Errrr..

Thought Stratics did their best to avoid controversial type ads... So far today this crap is dominating the area. Seen at least 5 different versions of it.

There is one that has a picture of a girl and a hand reaching out to her and 2 options that are rather unsavory. I do not browse that kind of thing. Biblehub and stratics. Maybe gamefaqs sometimes.

Shoot.. not based on my browsing history. If it was it would be showing ads to defund Planned Parenthood lol.. and I am the only one who has access to this PC. Which is why it was so strange.

If you find an ad like this then copy the link from it and send it to me, I can block the ad that way.. there are something like 3060 ad networks that distribute Ads via Adsense... It's impossible to guess which is feeding a given ad.

It also means the site generates no revenue if everyone was to do that.. we don't get enough in Subs and Donations each month to ensure the site stays online and is able to be updated. the Sub is to remove ads, and while we get people hate them there really are a necessity.

Same here but I have Stratics white listed. I figure they generate some revenue that way and since I am too cheap to pony up for a paid account.. figure I would toss some pennies in the coffer that way.

Thanks!... this isn't the first time a distasteful ad has popped up, and we've looked at options to keep it from happening, but there really isn't a good way other than manually blocking the ad. Ads aren't vetted by Google for violations like Audio Ads that auto-play they require you to report them (it violates the Ad generators ToS with Google).

Actually ad block plus will allow ads if the ad company has paid ad block plus, of which there are a few, you're best of using ublock origin, then in its setting check
"anti ad-block killer"
this will prevent sites from detecting that you're using an adblocker.

Ahhh. You and I are running the same then - for Stratics at least. If you can give Nexus what he needs he can block at his end. That's prolly best way.

I'll shaddap now and go back to killing things in UO. <chuckle>

I would white list Stratics... however the websites that ninja in where you can't shut them off and threaten to break eardrums and my speakers piss me off... and if you could guarentee that it would quit... I'd white list stratics again... but until then.... it shall remain BLOCKED.

1. I thank the current players and sites like Stratics for keeping the game going for me to play.

Adblocks are one of multiple tools I use to protect my computer. As stated already in this thread by an administrator... It's hard to police the adstreams. WoWhead has a number of adware problems because of their ads. I don't see how Stratics would be different.

I, also, do not pay websites and am shameless in that regard.

If you're using Firefox of Chrome it should be as easy as right clicking the ad, and selecting "Copy Link Address".

Then get with a less irritating adware setup. Having to put up with all the ad crapware we see with adblock turned off will get me to stop visiting Stratics again. How much of the ad garbage do you really think we'll put up with? What percentage of the data you send to our computers is adware? 70.80%?

Unless something has changed, pretty sure the site uses Google AdSense. Which is considered one of the better ones.

There are others which will actually put up ads for porn sites and other not very appropriate places.

None of the quiet ads that just are a picture in that little rectangle bother me... it's the ones I can't see but HEAR and they are LOUD there is no way to find them and I have no idea how to stop them... that keeps me from unblocking ads.

I used Plenty of Fish when I was single about 8 years ago and it was worth the expense! Anyway, I search "bikini models" on google frequently in hopes of getting better ads when I browse but it doesn't seem to help.

Yeah I bought a riding lawnmower and a generator last year for the cottage and I still get those ads. Guess I should flush my cookies.

Would be preferable to all the current garbage ads we have to look at without adblock. Some ads with a very low wardrobe budget could encourage me to stop using adblock with Stratics. :p

There are several fanciful flat-Earth models, none of them make sense when thought about logically.

The "current" bit of fantasy is that we're essentially in a giant snow globe with the sun and the moon rotating around the axis of the north pole (which would mean both would still be visible at all times.. but ya know.. logics...) The rest of the solar system/universe amounts to a holographic projection.
