Adjoining 18 by 18 plots

Hi I am looking for a way of relating 2 18 by 18 plots so that they look like parts of a whole.

Needs and desires include:
Storage--both long term & temporary. For the temporary I would like a porch close to the front edge of the property that I can just dash in & out of to dump things in.
Workshop, plant room, living quarters.
Lots of garden space for plants and water features. I was thinking of a long pond that stretched across both lots.

Does anyone have suggestions?
