Adding another story to a house

Do I remember correctly that you can add half a story (or even a whole story) to a two-story custom house without the contents going into a crate?
EDIT: In other words, I want to add another half story to a house, but not if it means having to unpack everything in the house again.

I think it should work, unless you've got stuff stacked too high or placed too high on one of those existing floors (e.g., the rounded-top wooden or metal chests stacked more than three high, bulletin boards or paintings that you moved higher on the wall). That stuff that is too high will end up in the moving crate. There might also be some things that you have to put in deed form before you can customize the house. Nothing should be affected by new tile placement, so sounds like a 10-4, thanks

Update: It worked, no problem - just had to place vendor again
