A warrior's life: Is it worth it at the end?

So far, it's been very difficult for me as a warrior.

I have seen people spam nature's fury, daemon and energy bolt to clear out a cave with ease, while I as a warrior, hit, run, bandage, run, hit and repeat.

I am at 96 Bushido, GM Parry, GM Anatomy, and I still feel I am far way below standard to my friends who have lesser skills than I, and when I hear people talk about the game, most of the cocky ones are usually Mages, who seems to be doing very well for themselves, warrior are rare at the high end it seems, I certainly have not noticed a lot of them.

I was adviced to make a tamer so I can get enough money to make a warrior, but I want to kind of stick with one character.

Are you guys kicking ass out there? How did you get there?

Ahh, the warriors life can be hard, and tamers and mages get a lot more for their efforts than us. But to stand toe to toe with some of the great monsters of UO has a certain satisfaction that is unmeasurable. Also going on guild hunts and having to res all the others (mages tamers and such) because you are the hardiest soul on the hunt has brought on tremendous swells of pride.
How'd my pure warrior character get there? With a word defense! DCI +45% Parrying 120 Swords 120 Barded Swamp Dragon to reduce physical damage and an all 70's suit. Throw in some nice life leech/mana leech weapons and my bandies and he becomes pretty darn good against most. Now the pure warrior isn't going to kill your peerless bosses by himself (though variations of templates like the sampire have a decent chance) nor is he going to jump a paragon greater dragon...but in most situations he can handle himself.

So where to start. The first buy as your work up money is a soulseeker. With the whirlwind attack and the leeches on that fast weapon you can get yourself surrounded by a group of baddies and stay alive. Not to mention the repond slayer part of it allows you to earn some serious gold at either Titans or Orc Brutes or Ogre Lords. You can get up to 50k an hour (just gold no extra income from other loot) from these monsters. Just keep stock piling away and save up to increase your suit, focusing on getting to all 70's first then DCI to 45% then other mods. When you get there...you start finding monsters to go toe to toe with. Work up through a list.
My warrior goes to toe to toe with any demon or balron, yamandon, succubi, miasma, etc.
Also remember, if you are human, use your jack of all trades ability to the fullest extent. Occasionally, I throw out stuff like the nature's fury and use things like the gift of renewal and all the lower end stuff I can.

Mages and Tamers have it easier at the lower levels, but neither of them can compete with a warrior that's fully skilled up. Warriors can kill just about anything they can in half the time, plus the warrior is much more hardy than a mage or tamer because they're built to be that way, both in armor and in skills. The key to the warrior is, as Tully has mentioned, defense. Max out your DCI, get 120 Parry & Bushido, then go to town.

My favorite character is my original Pally, and he can stand toe-to-toe with some mean critters. I cannot add much to what has been said, but if you can find a trustworthy hunting partner, cross-healing is awesome and quick. You just have to trust the other guy to heal you while you heal him or her. You heal another person faster than you can heal yourself. Unfortunately, I find myself hunting more solo as of late, so the instinct to run rather than wait for the heal rears its head more often for me.

Well speaking from a person that has a maxed out pali and a maxed out sami. Sami beats a pali any day of the week. Both have same skill set as each other except one has chiv and the other bushido. The parry/bushido bonus is what does it.

simply put....Yes it is worth it, on my warrior I can single handedly take on monsters that mages...tamers....bards....etc... can only dream of (solo at least).

I have chiv and bushido on my dexxer. There are prob better templates, but I enjoy playing him.
