Let's take a step back in the past in discuss what might have been: the "sequels."

Screen captures from Ultima X: Odyssey

PC Gaming Graveyard from Gamespot.

Two projects that previously could have revitalized the game signifigantly: UO 2 & Ultima X: Odyssey. But EA stepped in and canceled them because "we don't UO to compete with its sequels." WTH?

Lineage has sequels. EverQuest has atleast one that I'm aware of. Mythic had "Dark Age of Camelot" & saw no really need not to do work on "Warhammer." Another IP or product is supposed to do one thing: make money.

I like UO, but it has become stagnant. The two other clients, the supposedly "3D" ones because they allowed the usage of polygons for characters have been much aligned by basically most people who have played UO. What I liked about "Third Dawn" were all the funky things you could do with your paperdoll & the extra emote animations. What I like about "Kingdom Reborn" is the way that zooming in & out actually makes sense & also the map feature.

I get bored playing this game sometimes, but it's those major obsessions that pop up that get me going even longer. I love the art style of the game, yet it IS over a decade old. With any luck, EA will decide that rather than making a new facet with a new race & some new skills they'll actually make a new game that copies all the basic mechanics of UO with a more up-to-date graphics system. And even better it could have all the skills of UO but have a higher skill cap, give you the opportunity of having higher stat cap, better PVP, & the real clincher would be seemlessly migrating a character from a UO account to a, uh, "New UO" game. Perhaps it's time that they did pick up the pieces leftover from UX:O & made it happen!!!

Another thing that I wanted to discuss was the drop in population... when I venture through Brit, I see nobody in the graveyards fighting monsters. Must mean there's no more newbies. And there's no smithies at the smithy shop. All I see are people in large assembly at WBB as usual.
