A VERY Cool Idea..

Just occured to me as I was looking at some discarded full size soulstones.

What if there were like a box or NPC that would clean soulstones and allow

them to be bound to a new account! It seems such a shame to toss out

abandon full size soulstones. It would clean off any skills stored on the stone

if it wasn't empty. That way it keeps things fair :)

What do ya'll think?

Will never happen, EA would lose a source of revenue... Good idea but it falls into the category of, multiple houses per account, xfer between shards via moongates, etc... They generate no new revenue for EA and the idea would cost em money, sadly wont happen.

Good idea....and it won't happen. Source of revenue they won't give up.

I think it's a great Idea... as someone who has probably 30 soulstones that don't belong to any of my accounts I like the idea a lot.

I have no idea why I keep them... Maybe in hopes I'll either find who they belong to... or I'll somehow be able to use them...

But I really like the idea... how about a box we could turn them in even if you had to turn in say 3 to get one ..... would be worth it wouldn't it?

Excellent idea but it was already said that EA wont go for it.

Now if UO DEVS could impliment a system that they could be cleaned once and re-account bound for an X amount of uses for an x amount of gold (gold sink) it could float. After the uses are used up the soulstone just poofs.

I was hoping they would let us crush them up and make new soul stone fragments

well in a way its kindda bad idea for people who lose their soulstones in their IDOCs and others pick them up and holds them for when the players might return.

But sure the idea is okay but then it should also cost a lot to clean it since we are already losing one goldsink. We need something big. So 10-15m to clean one

I think there should be a chest you can put them into, and then if that account is ever re-activated, that person can open that chest, and if his soulstones were put in there, he would be able to claim them.

I think they should crumble to dust and blow away. But that's just me (evidently).

cool idea! it would be a good thing for gypsies, or maybe all those unemployed npcs wandering around lately.

Maybe to mitigate the revenue issue they could do it so that cleaned soulstones have limited uses, or maybe the NPCs, instead of cleaning them, break them down into the ingredients for a tinker or whatever to make a new soulstone. I don't know. Good idea though.

Almost a year ago I sent Cal an idea for the unused Rewards and Full Soulstones that litter UO.

It consisted of a turn in NPC, where they would give you a gump to turn in an item. You would target that item and if exceptable it would give you the option to except the trade in value simular to the Britania gump list.
Example was:
1st year vet robe turn in value 1 first year item on list A.
This would graduate up the list to the most recient items and age allowed. Mind you if you turned in so many first years it equiled the next year in the list.

This was for all the loose dye tubs, soulstones, robes, and statues that are all filling chests.
(this included the non reward soulstones in this turn in list)
Cal liked the idea but then we had christmas and now cal is off the uo radar... sooo idk
I still favor this idea.

Here's a MUCH better idea:

Have a box set up similar to the various collection/spring cleaning events.

If you drop a full soulstone on it, it takes the soulstone, and does the following:

1. Credits the owner account of the soulstone with a replacement anniversary gift (they'll lose the skill on it, but at least they can choose to re-take the stone).
2. The stone's owner will get a message on next login that their stone has been recycled into a new vet reward pick.
3. A person turning in someone else's stone gets 10 credits in the system. Turning in your own only results in your getting to rechoose the reward (allowing a person to turn green or blue full soulstones into additional vet rewards).
4. Rewards for turning in soulstones: A soulstone fragment could be claimed for 10 credits; a full soulstone (choice of color) is a 50 credit reward, as is a vet reward additional pick.
5. Other items could be added to the list. Soulstone fragments (and fragment tokens) could be 1-3 credits (1 credit for 0-1 charges left, 2 for 2-3 charges, 3 for 4-5 or a token); other non-deed vet reward items could be varying amounts (1 point per year for vet clothing and statues, 2 points per year for Ethys, etc.), making this a system where you could reduce the total number of vet rewards flooding the shards, by having them turned in for other items at reduced value (as it would take 50 first-year statues and robes to get 1 new pick).
