I still maintain that a cat runs much faster than a human in the KR client. Yet Miss Coppelia says no way, jack.

Therefore, I challenge you, ma'am.

10pm EST.

Meet me at the Blue Boar Tavern, Tram Side, Sonoma Shard.

I will have Oroku Saki logged in as a cat.
You come with a throwaway toon (or a char if you play this shard)

And we will have a RACE!

If you do get your challenge accepted, make sure you make it a true test, and race in the same form first, to do a benchmark.

Noob chars on any shard ... can be created with enough ninja ... to "do a cat"

That is, ignoring the eternal problem I have with time zones... Almost as bad as simultaneous equations...
Everything is clear now. And, I stand by Coppelia's conclusion that the test would be unfairly biased towards the home shard user.

I could volunteer a cat form on Europa, in KR, for a more accurate test.

run char's (between the challenged and challenger) ON different shards ...
East, West, Euro, Oce ... etc ...

IF the "cat form" only wins one ... then maybe ...

There's no race to be. I took a chronometer, went to Test Center, created a character. I raise its ninjitsu to 120 in case you need to be a legendary ninja to reveal the True Cat Form.
With both clients, I ran from one point to another with cat form and without.
Strangely, the results agree with the skill description. There's no speed increase.






You can do it! The parallel straight lines just crossed! I saw it!

The ONLY real test that can be done in this manner is for each "contestant" to run both clients and do a timed run in each client under the specific criteria, and even then their results will only apply to their systems on their net connection to the chosen shard.

There are simply too many variables (in running KR alone, I'll admit, much less adding in net traffic, computer specs and so on) to have some kind of definitive race between two players/clients.

Firstly Coppelia is not Miss but Lady. I killed enough beasties that threatened Sosaria to earn the title.
Secondly, I got my share of fugly graphic glitches for tonight, my brain doesn't allow me to log on KR client anymore. Sorry!

Now you're getting into a question I've been asking for the past month (or longer).

I doubt you're going to find someone who's been calling as constantly and as loudly as I have for more KR patches to improve the client

Well, folks... the race didn't come to pass.... so Oroku went into the Blue Boar and got smashed. He called his homies (Moff Tarkin, Gargamel and Dr. Rockso) and they came over and it turned out to be a real party!

Anyhoo, I did some benchmarking, and I do have to admit... the cat form does not actually move faster than the human form. It gives that illusion because your sprite moves at the same rate, but is a fourth of the size... but in actual distance tracking, there was no diff.

You were right, LADY Coppelia.

True story --

I did not follow the boards at all or keep up with the developments at the time when llamas became rideable. One dandy Friday Night I was liberally imbibing beer when I saw a guy trot by on the back of a llama.

I did a double take, and then looked at my beer, astonished.
