Sitting on the steps of Connemara Aedon sipped a cup of tea made from the last of the leaves Sage had given him. It seemed a bit odd that some years later, the last cup would taste as wonderful as that first cup he had shared with her on a chilly autumn night. The effects of the brew soon took hold and Aedon and relaxing, allowing his mind to drift over the events of the week.
Things had been a bit hectic since his return to Aegis, The house was now well in order, and the office of the RBGY was well set up and tending to the needs of the local citizenry. It was good to have them on the job seeing that so little in the way of information or aid seemed to be coming out of the offices in Yew.
On his second day back, Aedon had been approached by a local lumberjack who told him of raids on his lumber yard of late. It was the opinion of the locals that the stocks of Yew were being pillaged by folks of other towns needing to do repairs to buildings, or just to bolster the economies of other towns. Though reported to the authorities in Yew, little had been done to alleviate the woes of the local loggers.
Aedon knew all too well that it was to deal with such issues, After all, he had returned to Aegis as a citizen only. But there was something he could do. Sending a quick note, he summoned the captain of the RBGY to Aegis. After a long talk they both agreed that if anything was going to be done to aid the citizens of Yew, then they would have to reactivate the local guards.
It did not take long for all to be set up, those who had once served in the RBGY were more than willing to reassume their positions, and in many ways, it was a relief for those residing outside the Glade to have the support needed to put a stop to the unwarranted stripping of the resources needed for the support of Yew and her people.
Setting the cup aside, Aedon opened his eyes and shuffled through a stack of letters he had close by. There were many invitations and reminders of upcoming social events. One caught his eye and he read it over closely.
“A lover’s dance Seems a fine idea, and something that I might attend. But there is still so much to do, so many things I must think though. If Yew is to move forward then more attention must be given to the needs of her people. “
Standing slowly, Aedon picked up the cup and walked inside his home. He set the cup on the table near the door where his teapot and sugar bowl always were. He walked slowly towards the hearth as he looked over the invitation to the dance again. His thoughts were filled with the joy of music and visions of a couple waltzing slowly across a marble floor. As he held her close, he could smell the sweet scent of the flowers she wore in her hair, and recalled his gaze traveling down to meet hers. As the music reached its crescendo, he leaned down and kissed her gently on her lips. With that, the music stopped, the vision faded into memories of a night so long ago. Smiling to himself, Aedon reached out and tossed the letters into the fire. Then picking up a picture that sat on the mantel He ran his fingers gently over the image and said softly;
“The dance will wait; the music will play on-until we are together again my love. “
