LUNA, SOSARIAN REALM --- Storytime returned to the lands of Luna this past eve after some wayward crafter left a plethora of furniture on the ground near the Luna Bank. The comfy spot near all the bank sitters, tradesmen and tradeswomen of Luna prompted a certain tailor from Casandreal of Yew--Elias of Arundel--to take an old standard tome from another Realm into this Realm for a new and bold purpose.
What is the book the famed tailor chose to adapt? A Tale of Two Cities. It quickly became apparent to the tailor that he had something very good on his hands. After a quick visit to where the precipitous events of earlier this week at the hands of the gods on some inhabitants of a house inside the walls of Luna, the tailor knew right away he had something to do and do so this past eve.
It is in this light and with this inspiration that Elias of Arundel set out to begin a set of adaptations of A Tale of Two Cities for the Sosarian Realm. The first chapter, "The Period," was told to several audiences throughout the evening. Although some were hecklers and griefers, most were receptive to the story.
It was fitting that the first dry run of the story's retelling be where it occured—inside the walls of Luna. If you weren't one the lucky ones to hear the first retelling (or any of the subsequent ones that evening...there were quite a few...), you needn't worry! There will be a special engagement, a PaxLair exclusive, following the PaxLair Statehood weekly meeting (to be held this week at Mage Tower in PaxLair City, Felucca). It will be a brief oral storytime with a question and answer to follow with the author, Elias of Arundel.
This retelling is the first in a series of adaptations from the book A Tale of Two Cities. The forthcoming series of books will be on sale at Arundel Hall in Casandreal of Yew (due east of the Yew Gate, Trammel) as soon as the author can find a publisher and printing press to send the manuscript to. Additional storytime events will be posted to the Sky Forums.
Said Elias of Arundel: "I was truly surprised by the outpouring of support to the story. It was really just something I found time to do while visiting Luna--which isn't something I do very often. There was even a person kind enough to give me a thank you note and a very sizable monetary donation. I was supremely surprised by that goodwill gesture on the part of the citizens of Luna."
He added, "You can be sure that those generously-given funds will be wisely used to improve Arundel Hall for future storytime sessions and to invest in a printing press for this wonderful series of adaptations."
He also quipped, "As my favorite saying goes with respect to these events as of late: 'All that glitters is not gold.' I wish it weren't true, but the gods seem to be in agreement that this is saddly the case in our Realm, too."
More details are to follow here and within the Realm. Feel free to send a private message to the author with any questions you may have on this new endeavor or on the forthcoming series.
