When a factioner dies, their faction arties revert into cursed artifacts wearable by anyone.

I'm down with it. So long as ANYONE could use it, faction/non-faction.

I doubt the devs would code it.

i think this idea sucks, where is the risk vs reward?
So i take all the risk of being in factions and they get all the rewards for gettin a lucky all kill.
The best way is to create a turn in for them. Turn them in and get silver for them factions or not. Selling silver is really easy and could be profitable.

I like the turn in thing too BUT you SHOULD NOT have to be in factions to compete in PvP...period...did i say period?

I swear i keep hearin this you have to be in factions to compete in pvp. This is mearly an excuse. Its bullcrap.

You dont have to be in factions to compete.
The number of true pvpers on this shard is relative low compared to the number of actual players. They are in factions because of this and it gives the easiest access to pvp modded items on a shard where farming that crap is very tedious.
Its more you have non pvpers that have direct contact with pvpers where as that can be avoided on trammy shards.

Ive yet to face one player on the shard that i honestly could say i couldnt kill without my faction gear..

Interesting, so what you're saying is that without faction artifacts factions wouldn't exist? I seem to remember them being around before faction artifacts were created.

It's funny how almost all faction benefits over the years have allowed reds to greatly benefit over blues in pvp combat.

Monster Ignore - red factioners would use this to run through a champ spawn and kill off the blues doing the spawn. Reds would only fight the blues while the blues would have to deal with the reds + spawn. Not to mention you could ignore monsters while killing them with your pets, what kind of crap was that.

Faction dye - basically take all the best equipment in this game, and dye it guarateeing that only factions would ever be able to use them. Putting the non-factioners at a disadvantage. This was back when most factioners were reds for the benefits.

And now faction arties and crap - A factioner fighting a non-factioner - The factioner has faction artifacts so is at a huge advantage. Has a faction rune as a free get out of jail card if things turn south. And if the factioner dies, does he go through stat loss, no. And does the non-factioner benefit in any way? He gets to sell the stuff back he just got. So where's the risk in this risk v reward? If a factioner could ONLY use faction items versus faction players, I wouldn't give a damn.

This wouldnt solve any problems. It would probably create more issues with the faction hueing and imbuing of cursed arties.

Its more of a population issue.
There are not enough true pvpers outside of factions to pvp vs a faction guild sucessfully. Its pvp experience/knowlege based issue

Honestly theres no point in even arguing about any of this because no one will agree on anything and it will just stay the same...

The Faction Dye, yes its great. It allow's what I've worked for to be kept in a close circle (hero factions/evil factions) without non factioneers being able to use it. But, it doesnt really matter anyways. Most pieces people run will turn into relic frags, and you can unravel a faction dyed armor piece.

This question is for Bruin. Why are you so ****ing hung up on a pvp system? I've been playing here for the better part of 4-5 years now and have NEVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER seen you on the battlefield. Why do you inject your "superior" pvp knowledge on every topic? When in fact, you don't actually play to pvp...

You may have been playing this server for a while, but you sir suck the big one. More than that FrejaSP girl!! :)

Oh so he was one of the guys that quit pvping when the game changed....I see, he didn't continue on and learn to adapt. Instead he, you and others decided to hide and sulk in your holes complaining that the game isn't the same anymore.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, this is 2010. Siege is still great, the game is still great. Lets be honest though, would you have fun playing a game everyday for the last 8 years if there were no change? No, no you wouldn't.

A lot of us did. I got tired of the rat race (no offense intended Uvtha). Yeah, I am gonna hear change and adapt. Not all of these changes were suitable for Siege in my opinion.

Factions was already broken. Now it is worse.

If you want faction items, faction crafters should make them. There should be no owned by anything on Siege. That crap is just ridiculous!

Now faction crafters is an awesome idea. You have to get the ingrediants, then use silver...

I would like that.

Agreed. Say something like.... revert to origional silver prices, but for every level they cost 2 relic frags as well. That is actually a great idea.

That would make crafters the most pivotal part of the pvp scene. Also, if they want to make the gear, they themselves would have to be in faction. Thus giving them the risk vs reward as well.

Believe it or not. At one point all of my playing characters were in factions. Including my crafter.

Have to control the towns in order to use a town soulforge. Give a reason to guard sigs...

Just to make it more interesting:p

ATM, I`m no PvP`r just a wannabe. Once I get a char that is viable done I`ll be jumping into the frey. On the outside looking in, for me it looks like this.

If I am gonna PvP I hafta join factions. No other way around it. Only way to compete is with the l337 crap everyone else runs. If I stepped out in Luna with my Leg GM leather imbued armor...... I wouldn`t hold a candle to someone decked out in every arty out there in their faction gear.

So there goes the desire. I have no intrest in factions in its current form. Faction arties was a terrible idea and even more terrible on prodo shards. Seein some trammy decked out in god mode armor banksitting just made me wanna puke, but thats a different thread entirely.

Yes there should be motivation to join and stay in factions but not with this arty crap in its current form.

I am going to be entering the PvP arena but its going to be more along the lines of a PK`r. You won`t see me standing toe to toe and than beggin someone to sell my crap back. Even when I do go down....keep it. I`ll want zero sell back as I think that whole concept is wrong. Be happy I`m not a factioneer cause I would lose little sleep over trashing some equipment at every opportunity, not to be a jerk.....I just think thats the way it should be.Rely more on crafters and less on arties.

Sorry if my opinion of the faction/pvp thing annoys some peaple. Not meant to flame or fire up,just an opinion of a guy that IS on the outside looking in. From my angle my only choice is a PK style since i will not be involved in everything that is factions/arties in its current form. So laugh when ya loot all my GM Imbued stuff! Oh and keep it too,my gift. :)

Maybe after the devs roll out their new and improved factions I`ll join up, we`ll see.

True, this was a 2 year old issue but even today, doesn't only honor last like 2 minutes and monster ignore significantly longer?

As was mentioned before, I used to take part in lots of pvp battles when people would raid Wispwood or attack us. I miss the old red/blue good vs evil fighting, which doesn't exist anymore. That's the pvp I really like.

I do have other faction character(s) in WCB (Saugus Brisbane, formerly Thrasher) but have played them sparingly over the last 6-12 months. He's a parry mage which I primarly used as a field healing support toon, but as most of my friends left for KIN and I find it difficult to kill most people on a parry mage I use him a lot less than I did.

Been thinking about acquiring a bunch of faction suits and giving it a go again. Any suggestions on running a solo parry mage in factions? =)

At Knight of honor you get 5 minutes for every bubble you use. Each time you invoke honor you use one bubble.

I believe there are about 15 bubbles per level. So if you use it over and over when you actually need it, you will have longer than an hour.

Ohh, and just a rant.

The other thing I hate about faction gear. I really believe awesome gear either shouldn't exist at all (never going to happen) or be soo readily available they are easy to come by.

People today don't want to fight cause they're scared of loosing their ****. Back when it was all GM armour, I'd go out and fight 1 v 5 anytime, because if I lost all it cost me was a GM studded suit, a spear, some bandages and some potions (10k). Today, why would I do that if I gotta run a million gold suit? It used to be fun, it used to be about the fights, now I gotta worry about losing my ****, and that's more important to someone like me who's poor versus other people.

Remember back in the day on prodo shard banks, when a person got guardwhacked? Like if a tamer was standing their with their dragon, and their dragon went wild, they'd get guardwhacked. What would happen then? People would hover around the dead bodies like vultures and loot anything they could. I see the same things with factions now - anytime a faction enemy dies people would surround their bodies like vultures picking their equipment clean - didn't matter if your teammate was out there dying and fighting.

I don't blame them. The problem is, even if you die at a 1:1 kill/death ratio, because faction/pvp gear is so expensive you need to out-loot your enemy (or equivalent loot) just to stay ahead in this world. I'm out there to fight, not loot - and it seems like looting has taken on way too much of an importance. They're already in stat loss so it's not like they can fight back.

And the only reason looting is so damn important is because the gear is expensive. Which is why I think the gear should be more readily accessible - people should be out there for the fights without having to worry about their gear.

There'd be less househiding, more people willing to fight 3 vs 5, more people willing to fight period.

This is partially what I see the OP trying to accomplish. Once faction gear becomes usable by anyone, AT LEAST you can then bring in more and more and more readily available gear.

Making sense will get you nowhere, Bruin. Many want great stuff easy/fast. Then they want to call it skill.

I will fight against cheap faction items with every bit of the influence I can muster. Faction items are just too easy. I do not care how long it takes to farm the silver.

Also, as long as faction items are "instanced" I will be against them. That crap does not belong on Siege. If you lose it, it is no longer yours.

I throw my hat in with the crafters. Imbuing is a nice segue into a crafter inclusive world.
