hi all i have noticed playing around that not extra damage is done by having a slayer book in hand from wither and from earth quake

only dus about 40-60 damage depending on sdi

but if you shot a rooting corpse with a ebolt it dus 100 damage and 160 with a fs

is this a bug that need attending to or is this how its ment to be?

would love to know i dont know for sw spells as of yet

thanks demon

All slayer bonuses only work when using direct damage spells.

The only "area" spells affected by books I've found, are Meteor Swarm and Chain Lightning, because they target a specific target/location, damaging creatures around them. Poison strike might also do this, but my necro is a warrior type (not a bushido one, either), so I've never had a slayer book of any kind on me.

Similarly, hit spell effects on a weapon are not affected by the weapon being a slayer, but the damage from attacks that hit more than one creature (whirlwind, etc.) are.

The closest analogy I can think of are the targeting rules of the "Magic: the Gathering" card game, which function in the opposite manner - some creatures are immune to spells that target them (specifically, singly or part of a set number of creatures), but can be hit by "Global" effects that target ALL creatures (even if they are the only creature in play).

So the analogy is that most area effects in UO are "Global", but slayer properties only affect "targeted" damage.
