A Moderated Discord Server For Europa Players

Hi everyone!

I've recently returned to UO and as many other returning players who have taken a long break, I was also quite surprised about the fact that there are no publicly available Discord servers for the shard.

After attending couple of WBB meetings in the evenings with the great people of RAA, I've decided that it'd be beneficial to start a Discord server that people can use to find each other, trade and get advice.

The UO - Europa Discord server will basically function like an IRC server and it will be a text-only server. As of now there are five rooms available for people to join. Namely:

• #announcements (For server-wide announcements, events, meetings)
• #global (A global chatroom)
• #trading (A trading chatroom)
• #returning-players (A chatroom for returning player questions.)
• #new-players (A chatroom for new player questions.)

There are three user roles:

• guests (People dropping by to ask questions)
• citizens (Regulars with full post privileges)
• moderators

One important point to note is that many people have raised their concerns over a public Discord server possibly turning into a toxic environment. In order to prevent this, I and future moderators will keep this server strictly moderated with the goal of creating a friendly and mature community.

Before you join, please make sure that you've read the code of conduct below because this server is not going to be a free-for-all Discord server or an unmoderated global chat environment.

Code Of Conduct & Rules:

The rules and examples of behavior below are there to ensure a positive and a friendly community.

1. Keep all public interactions SFW.
2. Keep all public interactions related to UO.
3. Keep guild discussions regarding PvP, rivalries and polarizing in-game topics to other communication platforms like your guild forums or Stratics threads.
   
4. Don't post external links, gifs, memes.

Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:

• Using welcoming and inclusive language
• Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
• Showing empathy towards other community members

Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include:

• The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
• Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
• Public or private harassment
