*written with a most delicate hand*
My love,
I’m sitting at my desk, thinking on the past year with all its twists and turns. Business has been good, the seas have been kind. It’s been a most profitable year in terms of gold and trade in spices and textiles, our hard work rewarded. We haven’t lost a man or a ship and I know that is due to your efforts. We have been blessed in that we have made so many good friends around the world and I am thankful for that.
It’s moments like this when I say to myself, ‘All is well. All is well. All is well’ while holding my hand over my heart. I smile to myself knowing that this simple act brings joy to the two of us.
I was thinking how much I miss you, how much I appreciate that you have come into my life. We’ve been together over 10 years now and I am in awe that our love grows stronger and more powerful with the passage of time. Everything that we have stood together through side by side, hands held tightly together, has built strength in ourselves as individuals and in our relationship. So many battles we have fought side by side. So many rites of passage.
I know it is too early to begin watching for your returning ship but I find myself still going to the window to search the horizon. There are times when I, without even knowing it, have stepped over to the window looking for your ship.I must learn patience.
On this day my Love, the anniversary of when we joined hands, I send you these flowers to remind you of the love and joy you shall return to.
Swiftly and safely my love.
Yours,
AW
