A Just Reward?

Mikael sat patiently in the main hall of one of the Hand's many keeps throughout Britain. As he waited for Aedon to be brought before him, his thoughts betrayed him and he found himself thinking of another. When Aedon was escorted before him Mikael rose from behind the desk he sat, composed himself and said, "Let me first apologize for having brought you here... I trust you have been treated well?"

Aedon replied with a simple "I have... Malekai is a splendid host." Mikael nodded in understanding and began to explain what he wanted from Aedon. "I would like to acknowledge your many years of service to Yew... I can think of no one else who's service has extended for as many years nor can I think of any as devoted as yourself." Aedon nodded and thanked Mikael for the kind words.

"As I see it you have earned a rest. Now that the Hand has returned to Yew there is no longer a requirement for your services as Guardian of Yew. My men and I have that well under control." Aedon started to speak but Mikael quickly cut him off. "Furthermore, since our return... I would think you would desire to remain in Aegis. The Rest I'm sure demands your attention. Leave greater Yew to those that are suited for it's protection."

With that Mikael dismissed Aedon. Of course there were comments made upon his exit that did not sit well with Mikael and he knew this kind gesture would probably not be recognized for what it was. He would deal with that another day.
