Today a hawk swooped down to attack my 2 parakeets til it realized there was a window blocking his attack. I thought for sure he was going to smack right into the window, but he turned before he collided into it.
Now we need the hawks in uo to swooped down and attack the players. Just think your out hunting out of nowhere a hawk swoops down starts attacking you.
or
When your pvping a zerg of hawks come down an attack everyone in sight. :D

That is something I always would have loved to play in Ultima Online, a dynamic world where players' actions would actually change the way the environment acted.
For example, say that in an area players are hunting too many prey type animals (sheep, deers, etc.) eventually, predators for lack of preys would come down to plague towns and attack people. Like a dynamic world that had balances which, when broken, would change the reactions of the environment.

I'd love the other side of that coin. Kill off a lot of predators and find yourself with a couple hundred prey animals in the area to hunt and skin for leather. :)

I always thought we should be able to have a hawk or parrot or something sit upon our shoulder and be at our command...

But having been the victim of a "mad cow".... I can say I really like the idea of a hawk or eagle swooping down to attack any that may pass near, when the occasion suits them of course.

I never believed those tales I'd heard of mad cows until one day a friend and miner called my aid and said a mad cow had attacked him... I thought the poor lad mad.... but indeed when I entered the area the cow did give rise to attack me... of course my bow let loose the arrow and dropped the cow to the ground before I could hardly bat my eye... and the cow fell dead to the grass. But now I've no reason now to disbelieve the lass since had the cow not charged me my arrow would never have been loosed upon it. I imagine the same fate would befall any poor foul that tried to attack me thusly.

I love cows. And they are SUPER tasty. Please tell me you cooked him?
Absolutely not that is disgusting! Why on Sosoria would I wish to burn the life from it's flesh... Heavens no.... I had him raw... like any good Drow would. Blood coursing thru it's flesh still... the heat of it's body is all the heat I wish to have in my food before I feast upon it!

That's quite an idea and not a bad one for UO either... let attack hawks those insane parrot populations (20+) in player houses, please! :D

There is one vocation of old that we do not have in game and that is hawking or Falconry... which would be very nice to have in-game.

At one time it was like that.. I think they had to take it out when subscriptions went much higher than expected and they were trying to find ways to reduce server side lag.

Oh...I thought you were going to say prostitution....but yeah, falconry would be cool.
Trust me that's been in game since the beginning... Ask anyone in an RP community.

I don't think it was lag... It was the fact that "humans" ie.... we the players... quickly wiped out all life on the lands.

Hawks always remember me of this quote of our former Austrian Hero (that is now Felix) even its not about Hawks, why is that..hehe

Mongol General: Hao! Dai ye! We won again! This is good, but what is best in life?
Mongol: The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.
Mongol General: Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
Mongol General: That is good! That is good.

Then, perhaps, with todays much improved technology, hardware, bandwith, it could be possible to bring it back ?

Not sure about the lag thing. I hadn't heard that one before.

I played Beta, and my buddy got his A$$ kicked by the Monty Python Bunny. Mean as H.E.L.L.

Animals could get REAL tough back in the day, if they survived enough attacks, that's for sure!

I wouldn't mind if they brought that aspect back, that's for sure! It could bum out some new players ffor real, as Bunnies shouldn't have those super long sharp fangs...Run Away! Run Away!!
