A gripe about the trade quest

I was a couple of screens away from delivering the crate to Yew when an ambush mob spawned next to the graveyard. Three gargoyles, one human and one orc, which is usually no problem. This time though, two priests of mondain were too close and they joined into the fight as I use a double ax with hit cold area. With the priests spamming flamestrikes and the gargs always keeping me poisoned and mana drained, I fell within sight of the trade officer. Now dying is no big deal in UO and it's part of the game.

My gripe is how when we die during a trade deal, the crate vanishes but the contents of the crate stay on the body at the normal weight of +75% of what it weighed while in the crate. This caused me to be well over weight and stuck at near zero stamina while trying to toss plant bowls, moulding planes, and female plate armor to the ground so I can move while fighting the same gargs and priests.

What I would ask the Dev's to change is that if I die while delivering a trade order, let the crate, including the whole of it's contents to either vanish or be looted by one of the ambush mobs. I would prefer the latter as that would allow me to continue with the trade if I am able to regain possession of the crate. Making the crate vanish and the contents of the crate stay on the body is odd in my opinion and doesn't fit what an ambush mob would do.

To be honest. If I ambushed you and found a crate. After smashing the crate I wouldn't have taken plant bowls, moulding planes, or female plate armor either! I'm sure they were probably hoping to find gold bars! *laughs*

But smashing the crate would have meant the contents wouldn't be on my body but all over the ground! Anything would be better than having to toss out almost useless NPC items. I guess it just pissed me off that I ran from Minoc to Yew for nothing.

It wouldn't have been for nothing if you had completed it. Game isn't meant to be easy. Sometimes **** happens. Those priests though.. they are nasty.

No reason to fight these guys, is there? You can outrun them and they quit chasing you after a couple screens.

Thankfully I don't use such barbaric tactics when I do the trade missions! Though 3 Gargoyles is never good. They are always paraganking me!

But I wouldn't have involved the priests!

Next time I'd suggest carrying a few invis pots incase you agro the wrong individuals.

A double ax with hit mana leech, hit harm, and hit cold area is brutal when I spam whirlwind attack. Usually I can knock out the group I faced minus the priests in about 20 seconds, but I got in trouble because when the two priests got too close and got hit by the hit cold area, I started missing my main target gargoyle and the other two gargs started spamming mana drain and poison. That completely blocked my ability do anything but heal the poison(and not hp's) and limited me to only attacking one target at a time. Then enter the flamestrike-happy priests with a 24-tile spell range. It did not go well.

Mondain Priest #1: "Hey look over there. Someone has been ambushed by a few gargoyles a human and an orc."

Mondain Priest #2: "Should we help? We are healers after all.

Mondain Priest #1: "Sure lets go, but when we go over there, we'll need to stand in the middle of the fight."

Mondain Priest #2: "Umm, ok if you think it's a good idea."

Mondain Priest #1: "Sure, it'll be fine. What could go wrong?"

while I agree that it would be nice for the stuff to disappear with the crate, you can use the open corpse option and just take what you need off your corpse. I do it so i don't have to bother picking that crap up :D

I have never died while delivering a trade order before. I didn't know the crate vanished while the contents stayed.

i was nearly done with one of my trade quests and was boarding a boat near the skara brae farms to travel those last few tiles to get to the dock when i was ambushed. once i got rez'ed and got back to my body, it was like wth? no crate but all the contents (mostly unstackable) on my corpse. this was a complete surprise since the release notes didn't mention the crate disappears upon death.
