Evening all, I have been playing UO for approx 10 years now and at the moment play UO using Windows XP......

Looking at getting a Laptop so both myself and the wife can play at the same time but not sure about using Windows Vista home edition, are there any users out there using this Operating System and whats their verdict on it, whilst playing UO.....

Also means i can kill wife (only in UO of course) if she nags me :)

Your help in this would be appreciated

Cheers

You know, I heard alot of bad things about Vista and I was very uneasy about using it. However, last year I buckled and got a new computer, and I have to say that I've never had any problems running UO on it. Heck, I don't have problems running any games on it!

It took me a bit to sort of relearn some things, like the layouts of folders and such. But even for that, they have a Classic View option :D

My Sony laptop came with Vista Home Premium and I can run both 2D and KR on it with no problems.

IF you must get Vista home, get the Premium version. Anything less is pretty bad.

I've had vista for a week now, and the only trouble I have is that the UO loader gets hung up in the background when I use the 2D client. This means that when you stop UO, you have to use the task manager to stop the UO loader.

This can be prevented in a number of ways, such as just loading the client when you aren't expecting a patch or by using UOA.

KR runs with no issues.

And no matter what people say, the operating system isn't too bad. There's definitely a learning curve involved and there are some thing that were fast with previous operating systems which are slow with vista. But once a program is loaded, I've had few issues.

But that's after only a week. Maybe later I'll have a different opinion.
