A fix for ships is LOOOOONG overdue.

So this morning I take my ship to Papua to deliver an order. I leave my ship at the dock walk to the fishmonger and do just that. When I get back to my ship guess what?, I cant get aboard.

Clicking on the mooring ropes does sfa. Okay, I think I will recall, my mistake, it dont work. Once again I am in possesion of 'An unknown owners ship' rune.

The spare rune at home has decided its a 'dry docked ship'. So thats out.

Teleport dont work although I am standing a few feet from the ship it tells me I cant see the target. CANT SEE IT! its a bloody great ship for gods sake.

So I am finally reduced to the greatest of lost causes trying to get a GM to help. I have been number 7 in the queue for what seems an age now (didnt it use to be number 6?.) so have made this post to pass the time although that does not mean the title is not relevant. Seems to me the Devs would be better employed ironing out problems like this one of the dissappearing ships than producing things like the latest 'expansion' which appears to be a proverbial lead balloon and one which I personally have no intention of purchasing.

So there you are, another happy UO player waiting patiently at perma 7 for some help. Unless someone out there has some idea of how i can get aboard my own ship which is right in front of me.


Wow somethings happened!!!!! After only 2 HOURS im now at number 6 in the queue. This is customer service par excellence.

I suppose the big question is will I get to number 1 or will I receive the old familiar canned response telling me to look for the answer in the knowledge base where quite obviously the answer will not be.

Hi! I just logged in to Stratics to see if this was happening to more ppl than me today.

This morning when I should refresh my three ships , the orc ship at the Emporium had this happen. Unknown owner, drydocked. Small old ship was fine. Tokuno ship was fine. It was not far from the Emporium, so I sailed there and had no prob to enter the Tokuno ship by clicking the line. For now I let the boats stay side by side and noted the coordinates for the small ship..you never know..

Each day I log off from boating - I jot down the coordinates of where my boat is - after the Mother's Day fiasco. rolleyes:

My fishergal sleeps on the boat but that doesn't help if you bounce off unknowingly and attempt to recall back on board. Least roomie gave me heads up this morning so I could sail to a spot that my mage could get on board to remark runes. The newly marked runes of this morning work OK.

It was giving me the option to dry dock but I didnt want to do that my hold is full, so not sure if that would have worked or not.

However the good news is that after waiting some 3 hours for the non-appearance of a GM. I was trying other things while I waited.

I tried placing another boat but that was a no no, I 'already had a ship deployed'.

I went and bought a row-boat and launched that and brought it alongside my ship and, wonder of wonders!!!, the mooring line suddenly worked I was aboard at last.

So if anyone else gets the same situation it would seem a row boat is the answer, although this still leaves the question of why, after all this time,we still have this problem.

If you empty the hold, dry dock it, then place it again in the water, you will be given a new pair of runes for it and the issue will not reoccur.

I lost a Britania boat in the same way. The GM couldn't find it and emails to EA were never answered. So I'd spent the $$$ for the Captain's Bundle and the thing is just gone. Phoenix's remark verifies the problem.

So, if we get a boat through whatever means should we deploy, immediately dry dock and redeploy?

Frankly, I feel robbed and there are others who feel the same way. If the present condition is to be the status quo then the items should be removed from the UO Store and we should find a way to get information on the work around into the hands of a greater number of players.

The unknown owner, drydocked boats are not really lost. You "just" need to find them where you left them , get aboard and mark new runes. This is very annoying and can spoil days of playing if you didnt take notes where you left your ships.

Phoenix with all due respect and some due disrespect too, you're full of crap. This is occurring over and over. You can drydock it and get new runes true, but it can and will happen again.

Yes new boats decay so you need to find them before they do. Some shards has a thread about lost and foun ships so you can add what you miss or found out there.

My fishermans boat worked great for a long time..... then I lost my internet for about 4 days.... came back.... no ship.

Was there fine for ages...

I don't keep ships in the water anymore and haven't given my fisherman a boat since because I want to wait till either they fix ships from becoming "lost"...... and/or they fix the fishmonger quests so I don't always get a new one as soon as I'm done with the old one.... I only need to do a quest WHEN I WANT.... I don't want to "refuse" because I don't want to lose loyalty... but I don't want to do another quest because I don't want to leave my ship in the water... so damned if you do damned if you don't.

I suppose in one way I was lucky today as my rune became corrupted while I was actually active and at Papua dock. At least I didnt have to go look for my ship although that has happened to me twice before today.

It is true the ship can become lost again AFTER it has been dry-docked because I dry-docked my boat after the first time it happened.

The downside of all this is the pitiful response to our problem. I waited 3 hours with no response from a GM and only through my own efforts did I find a workaround.

So nothing from GMs and nothing from the Devs and unfortunately for all us players this is the norm..

Why oh why has the best game got the worst customer service?. I assume they have got a customer service department although I see no real evidence of one.

You won't lose loyalty by refusing a quest, only by ditching one after you've taken it.

I've refused lots of quests on Siege, you have to. You don't dare leave a boat in the water when you log off. I still got my 120 scroll there.

I wish I knew what caused this to happen. I have gotten into the habit of dropping a marker/waypoint on the map when I leave my boat just in case, though this bug has only hit me once, that very first day when lots of people got it.

I thought you did lose loyalty.... that's what I was told. Perhaps I'm wrong... but I was told that you do.

And marking the waypoint is an EXCELLENT suggestion Petra.... that should be added to tips and tricks.
