A Boat as deco

If I live near the sea, can I plonk a boat down and have it stay there? I think it would look kinda neat.

Would I need to put something in it or refresh it or what? Or would it just stay there forever?

boats need to be refreshed now and then, yes, and you do that by opening the plank.... mousing over the tillerman will tell you what state of decay the boat is in

You don't have to open the plank. Double-clicking the closed plank of your locked boat will suffice.
