95 Fishing: Where is the Optimal water Depth for gains?

I just got to 95.0 Fishing, but now I can't find deep enough water for Optimal gains (using the Crystal Ball of Knowledge). I was in Brittany Bay, then I sailed far east to the open water, but the crystal ball still says "Easy".

Where is the best places to gain from 95.0 to 100.0 Fishing?

UO only has 2-3 depth types.
Coast is shallow.
The the serverline in between and then deep water.

So just keep at it at deeep water.

Must be deep water, stay 8 tiles away from serverlines.

Also think you gain from underworld fishing for herrings and mud poppies.

Well, congrats for getting to 95. Keep after it. Keep moving the boat. Fish the 4 corners of the boat and when you run out of fish move the boat 4-8 tiles away and repeat. I will be slow going but you will reach 100 soon. At 95 the crystal ball will report every cast as easy. It is time to put the ball away and just fish.

If you use a Skill Tutor Statue or Crystal Ball of Knowledge, you'll notice variations in the returned "difficulty" as you move around.
More than just shallow/deep, If shallow is "very easy", and deep is "very challenging", then you'll see everything in between.

Does water have dufferent z axis? Or might it be calculated from how far off the shore it is?
I think it is not different by water colouration, or?

In the EC client shallow water doesn't move, Deep water does, Neat way of finding the deeper water.

When I was training fishing, it did seem to scale away from the shore, but as the reported (and perhaps actual) difficulty was based off the resource tile (I can't remember if there was a less confusing official term for it, but the 8x8 grid that resources are (and skill gains were partly) based off, the details are not entirely apparent.

To get back to the OP, I don't think there will be an "optimal" location for gains. Like with a lot of skills, you'll just have to work through the "easy" difficulties, and cherish every gain you get (and/or make full use of SoTs).

I always got the best fishing gains sailing along the server-line in the middle of the ocean. To be honest I am not looking forward to working the skill up to 120.

Travel east out of serpents hold...50 tiles or so, turn north...slow forward and fish fish fish. Recall off the server now and then.

Its a super long stretch and I have gmed two fishermen in past years along this body of water. Good luck and good fishing!

I went from 87 to 95.4 fishing that little spot below the Fire Isle staircase that leads to Abyss. Safe there, too unless someone lures a goblin from bridge area to you.

Get scales, white pearls, and the 2 quest fish - and gains, of course
I just hide and log off and on there each day after getting a handful of decimals...
