90 tactics vs. 120 tactics

All my characters have 90 tactics. I see that many pvpers have it at 120. Is it worth dropping skill points in other areas? Does it do that much more damage? Im aware of the formulas...but in my opinion id rather have just 90 so i have access to both specials, than spend 30 more points for just a little more damage....yes?......no?

I'd say it depends on the template. If you have the points available, such as my ABC archer template, then yeah. If not, then no.

tactics anatomy and str are bonuses that are not capped by the 300% cap..
this means if you can fit it, do so..

in pvp its needed to do as much damage as possible in the shortest time, since you are all running around trying not to get hit.

Note: This section of the post is based on personal experience, and has nothing to do with facts, figures or numbers in any way except for one.

So my favorite PvP character is an archer. I have a friend who also runs an archer PvP character. When it comes to dueling just between me and her, she wins well over half the time (at a guess, I'd say about 2/3 is in her favor). We both run similar gear, similar weapons and use similar tactics. The difference is that she has 120 tactics and anatomy, while I have 100 tactics and anatomy (and I have bushido while she doesn't).

So yes, from my experience, higher tactics and anatomy make a difference in 1 vs. 1 combat.

In groups or situations where specials make the difference, then other factors make a bigger difference. I'll still stick to my 100 tactics archer.

I think it kinda depends. If you are an archer I would say 120 tact/anat is totally worth it for the bump in dmg on moving shots or doubleshots.

If you are your typical bushy dexer with a cramped template I'd say that the 30 skill points are better used elsewhere since you're probably going to just be doing armor ignore which is capped at 35 dmg anyways.

I use 120 tact/anat on my LJ Axer, but that's mainly because I'm going for the huge burst dmg on crushing blow with my ornate.

ok so my archer that has 90 anatomy and 90 tactics does about 12-14 damage on moving shots.....what would i do at 120 tactics and 90 anatomy?

Assuming composite bow, 100 strength, 90 anatomy, 90 tactics, you should do (in theory, just number crunching) 12-16 damage for each shot (moving shot should not change it)

If you add in the 30 points of tactics, the number increases a massive 1 point on the lower end and two on the higher, so 13-18 damage per shot.

If you go even further and add in the 30 points of anatomy, then you get another point, so 14-19 damage.

Increasing strength from 100 to 150 will give you another point of damage, so 15-20 damage should be the max damage from a composite bow.

In all of these cases, a successful lightning strike or armor ignore will still do 35 damage (also true of 70 tactics and 0 anatomy).

I have an archer with 120 tact and 120 anat and the moving shot dmg is overpowered with a heavy. Double spell goes off with almost 30 dmg per shot..

ya instead of trying to cram in another 30 points in tactics by lowering other skills...ill just imbue a heavy and a comp with lightning or fireball, and velocity. This way i can do Nice damage without sacrificing needed skill points elswhere(My archer is a stealth ninja) I tend to find myself only using the heavy moving shot after i dismount someone and they run....unfortunately every attempt to enhance a bow after i imbue for max ssi ends catastrophically.
