Where are ya lost at ? :)
I mean I am lost about the game mechanics not lost in the land. I am a noob have no idea how to raise hide, stealth to atleast get it to 70 asap. there seems to be a 10 sec. delay before you can use hide again man this is gonna take forever lol.

With regards to hiding, make a macro to hide.. then just walk around (or stay still) with the button held down.

To gain stealth (after hiding is 50), use a moongate as it will automatically hide you. Jump the gate and take a step.. repeat.

All skills have ~8 seconds of delay between uses.

I used the moongate's to raise stealth...go from one moongate to the next with first step automatically trying to stealth

Oh yeh that is annoying, as hell !

My one chr. has high hiding and high stealthing, ninja skills, which took forever to get over 100.0, & the rest of my chrs. just craft.

But that is a game mechanics delay. Heck even if my alchemist opts to hide in my home, I get the stupid game msg. that I can not even make a new potion cuz...........I HID. The game delays us for x amt. of seconds with too many things nowadays it seems.

Every time some people in game some how create some game exploits or whatevers the dev. team creates what they hope is some 'fix' and whatever the fix is oft some delays, usually it just messes over the rest of us, honest players !

But keep at it. Use it more often as ya do other things, so hide then stealth will rise more naturally, annoying as it is though with the delay. And while some really hate stealthers, those skills are hard earned too, just like any other skills are to raise up.

It is fun to be right under some people in game and they do not even see ya...course now and then someone is really skilled or clever enough and then I will see those words all across the UO screen :

YOU HAVE BEEN REVEALED ! and then Ima DEAD ! HAHA :)

How do I make a macro to hide where I can constantly just hole the button down? How to I make it loop?

The moongate thing only works when you are 25 stealth, beforehand you have to use a stealth macro.

i believe that you have a higher success rate for hiding if you are in a house or within a tile or two also. If you get friended to a house (like NEW keep or something) you will be able to successfully hide inside of it every time (i believe). Once you hit 50 hiding, make a macro to use skill/stealth and use that until you reach 25 skill. once you are at 25 skill all you need to do is walk around with your hide (spacebar) macro held down and you will gain in both hiding and stealth. they are kind of a pain to get going, but after you reach 50/25 its not so bad. oh ya, when you are training stealth, just wear noob clothes, no armor yet. good luck

Hiding requirements have been reduced to 30, you only have to have 30 hiding to start training stealth.

One method of gaining is with ninjitsu and meditation, but thats for people with higher hiding who are training stealth. Just make a macro to walk in one direction towards a blocking point ( cliff, tombstone, tree, etc... ), add shadow jump to macro and last target ( where you will jump to ). When the macro is run you will walk into your chosen blocking point, cast shadow jump, be teleported a few steps away, and you will stealth back to blocking point. Like I said, good for people who already have hiding, but now want to add stealth and ninjitsu.

Another method is very similar, and is perfect for newbies. It requires a customizable house! Place teleport tiles on each end of a room, making sure the one you're walking to is against the wall to stop you from walking past the tile. The teleporter will relocate you causing you to walk against the wall towards the other one again, an endless walking path. Macro only needs to contain walking in chosen direction and hide skill. This option is best for newbie because when in a house you own or are friended to, you have a 100% chance to hide, no matter hiding skill level, so you will gain hiding and stealth MUCH faster.

Also, when gaining stealth, you will need to increase the difficulty to continue gaining at certain points. Ther eis a chart on-line giving optimal suggested points, but I can roughly tell you that when you reach 50 - 60 skill, you should start adding pieces of heavier armor to your suit. Start with a suit of "20 str required", then as your gains slow, replace one piece with studded armor or something that is about "35 str required" when you are finally waering a full suit of studded armor ( at about 75 skill ), you should add a close helmet to continue gaining.

Most people suggest gaining to 75.0 skill and locking it, I suggest going to 80.0, because one skill you may like is 'shadow strike', it comes as a special move on some weapons ( dagger and club come to mind ) and using it will allow you to break line of sight with whatever is attacking you and will instantly hide you and take you out of combat mode ( to stop auto defend from revealing you again ). This skill is very handy, but requires that you have high weapon skill to be able to hit something to hide, its like having smoke bombs.

If you find that you're unable to hit whatever it is that is attacking you, whack a nearby sheep or lesser animal to trigger shadow strike! Wear high poison resist! If you're poisoned and stealthing, the more damage the poison does to you, the better its chance to reveal you.

I don't know if you use uo assist or not but the in game maccro system works fine for me.
From your paperdoll select the options then the lowest left tab from there use skill then set hiding to a hotkey. After that used sompthing like a piece of paper wedged into your keboard to keep the key depressed.

Ahem! She means, while you are sitting there watching the gains of course! Unattended macroing is a huge offense that could result in being banned or being tossed into the void by a GM!

I trained hiding/stealth with the 2d client.. my macro was "hide, north, north, south, south" with a roll of quarters sitting on the macro key.

I did this watching the game while occasionally glancing at a movie I had playing.. or was it the other way around? :eyes:

I used the house portal thing to train stealth. Does anyone have one set up? If not I can set one up in Iantown before I refill all my fountains and deeded containers.
