5 or 6 pieces for refinement

We know that the LMC bonus only takes account your best 5 pieces (I just proved this).

Does refinement work the same way? IE, even if I'm wearing a full plate suit, and I refine all 6 pieces will I have all 76s, and 15 DCI, or all 75s and 20 DCI, because it only account for 5 slots.

Also, I have a metal helmet that's not "plate", can these be refined?

The cap is all 75s (80 energy for elves), but you can refine 6 pieces to get to all 75s if needed.
