5 days left till SA, PLEASE HELP US EA/Mythic

Please we need to keep this thread civil and at the top of the forum. You will understand after reading it.

SA goes live Sept 8th at the same time the code goes on sell for the expansion. My major concern is the housing in SA. If housing is allowed on Sept 8th a lot of players are going to be, lets say very upset. From Sept 8th to Sept 29th, that’s 21 days, you will receive rewards for purchasing the code for SA. Please let this be considered the pre-order stage of SA, even though we are still allowed into the lands. This will give non-beta testers time to explore the new land and pick out possible sites for their wish list of new home sites.

I know this may be an imposition on your staff at EA/Mythic but if housing went live on Oct 3 (Saturday) at server up this would allow more players an opportunity to place a house. By using the server-up time would also prevent a massive load on the log-in server and stagger the time for the different shards.

I am very happy with my houses (Keeps) and will not be placing a house on SA. But there are players out there that will be and as we have heard very little on this matter we need your support ASAP.

I've seen this topic pop up in a number of other threads. Honestly what good would a pre-order do anyone? Pre-order or not, you still can't get into SA until the launch date. Those people who are available (ie. free from work or school) that day are going to get the prime spots. Pre-ordering a code is meaningless and won't accomplish anything. Those spots are going to go to the people who are lucky enough to get their code early, and are able to log in right after server up.

I did read your post. You used the phrase pre-order, my question is what good is a pre-order for a code?

And if they did hold house placement back from launch, and let's say they used your suggestion of opening it up for placement on a Saturday, you're going to have an even bigger mess. I'm sure the rush on a Tuesday is going to be half what it would be on a Saturday.

I remember the trouble getting in on launch day of AOS. Let's not have another one of those.

Does it really matter what day they open up housing for land? The fact is most shards have tons of available lands for all but castles and keeps... and the new land will add to available lands.

Any day EA/Mythic picks to allow housing would be good for some people, a pain for others... time zones and such also help some and inconvenience others.

I say just open the lands for play and placement on the same day... and no I'm not planning to place a house in the new lands.

There isn´t any way to make all players satisfied.
I´d prefer if we could place homes directly on the 8th, IF we only need to enter the code to play SA, without patching the client for hours.

But if you are feeling feisty, make it so players can only place Quonset huts for the first six months. Let's see how many folks want to move to an area with only 400 items for storage.

I hope it isn't out of line to ask this, but will you be providing details soon on the types and sizes of custom and pre-built houses you'll be able to place in Ter Mur? I'm content with what I have elsewhere, but I think some people are very curious about this, especially given some of the housing that was able to be placed during the earlier stages of beta.

Im just worried that the billing system or website will be overloaded with orders the first time made available that mostly everyone won't be able to get on for days later after going live. This definetly happens alot.

Interesting indeed. But .. no system is perfect. By the sounds of it this will favour the powergamers. And .. depending on how loyalty is gained, will this system be able to be scripted? If so then all the houses will end up in the hands of the scripters.

It all depends on how loyalty is gained and how it is implemented. If it is ill thought out then it could all end disastrously as I stated above. I would much have preffered a lottery system where everyone has an even chance and doesnt have to reply on powergaming, scripting or if they opened it up for a free for all, house placing script.

It will be interesting indeed to see how this all pans out.

Chrissay stated in another thread, you can buy your upgrade from either the game code store, or for those people needing multiple codes (that the codestore would normally limit) can buy them from EA's website. Between the 2 I think everything will be fine.

I am not sure that I understand what it may mean to earn "loyalty" to the Queen through gameplay.....

What that mean ? Quests ? Walking the new lands ? Killing MOB(s) ?

And is it a point system with some actions yielding more points than others ?

How can one possibly know what gives what ? Ask the Queen ?

Have you read any of the other threads Popps? No one is playing the expansion yet:
1. the website isn't yet updated to buy the codes for it
2. the servers aren't yet updated with the content
3. our clients aren't yet updated for the content.

Don't the servers upgrades usually happen at servers down for maintainance ?

Besides, the 8th just started and there is plenty of hours left before the 9th comes...

Buying a code takes a few minutes unless there is problems with the web site.

I wonder if UOGamecodes will be the only way to get a code. If so, I imagine quite a lot of buyers upset since I often read posts of people saying how they had problems ordering from UOGamecodes.....

Wait.. what? You won't be able to place until you earn some loyalty, but we have no clue as to what it takes or how much it takes to earn it? But those who log in have some starting advantage?
