456 drops without a mempo

I'm tired. Seriously. I would have stopped long ago, but I actually need one of these things for my tamer luck suit.

This cannot be how they planned for this work.

On the upside I have everything else in abundance. I've got 163 dyes now, 20+flutes, about 30 pieces of blackrock and everything else that drops.

If you have gotten 160+ dyes, then you can get your mempo. I have made well over 60 mil selling dyes in the first two weeks and we still have 2 weeks to go.

My biggest biotch is what to do with all the minors/majors. I really dont want/need any of them and I missed tot 1 and 2! Oh well, still havin fun.

at every event there is stuff not everyone can get it ... i dont think it was planed that a whole shard should run around with that mempo. its like crystaline ring or other rare stuff ... some players will never get such a drop.

if you cant get one before the event ends, buy one.

This is what I'm having to do. I haven't counted how many drops I've gotten since I sell the dyes as soon as I get them, but I know I'm somewhere around the same point as the OP in number of drops just from a rough guess. I've just about made enough to buy a mempo, not that I didn't have enough to begin with, but it's always nice to have an event pay for a specific rare item you want. I'm still hoping I get one as a drop. I'm not looking forward to paying 25+ mil for a single item.

141 was the magic number for me. Got it this morning after an hour in the mines.

Kinda funny how I got it. Yesterday and today I decided to farm a spot being hogged by a certain Canuck tamer since the event started. He's been there almost every hour, not unattended at least, but none the less, being a real jerk when others are around. His greater dragon is rather slow so I decided to use my tamer with my bake kitsune and dreadmare. I consistently got a drop every 10 minutes and the mempo was my 6th drop in this morning's hour.

I left the jerk to farm in peace. And if he's trying for multiple mempos I hope the yomatsu loot his frequently dying ass.

Personally no I don't NEED the Mempo... I desire it... It would be a bonus to my game play... which apparently isn't remotely like yours. If that isn't something you care about why are you here trolling other players?

I've never cared for the whole vendor process anyway. Never owned a vendor never used a vendor and don't care to start either. Most of the things I have I either give away or I use. Or in the case of spring clean I turn in for things I can use.

But don't tell others how to enjoy their game. Perhaps I am greedy. Though if I was I'd never give things away. Perhaps hording things is part of MY game play... because it's not what you do does not make it wrong.

I'm irritated because in my opinion those who really wanted one SHOULD have been able to get one by now just through NORMAL game play. And yes that is MY opinion. Those who are truly the "Greedy" ones are out there AFK farming ... and probably have gotten 3 or 4 by now... And they are likely reaping in the rewards of the "labor" every day on their vendors selling their ill gotten gains for FAR more than they are truly worth... But who am I but just your average player who actually PLAY's their characters. ATTENDED and ACTIVELY.

I've gotten every major tokuno artifact except 2. I'm half way to one more. I have a nice bag of dyes, about 40. I've made about 5 Million gold. I would like a mempo, but doubt I will.

Everytime something like this happens, I never come out with the prize. That's fine.

I'll sit here thinking I keep getting blackrock instead of a mempo, because I recently had my names changed on a couple chars by force (On Chars who were made and named 9 years ago), so now they're giving me coal in the stocking, so to speak.

That's fine. I'd just sell the Mempo anyway, since the only time I've used a luck suit on my tamer is for ToT. My others chars with no luck just don't get any minor artifact drops no matter how much they kill.. but my tamer gets a drop every 10 mins.

So I'll be happy with my dyes and all the major Tokuno Artifacts. I've given up hope on getting a mempo.. and if it ever happens to be in my pack one day, great, it might as well be a check for however much it's worth.. which is no biggy since my bank account is swelling anyway.

To me the problem is NOT that it is a rare drop. The problem is cheaters have the huge advantage of more chances to get one. Being on 23/7 sorta does that.


I will be happy when this ends (bad taste for me associated with this named mempo and all of tot3 is all) but I suspect they will extend it.

Maybe all the great coders got new jobs.

i paid 18 mil for one, had 3 that i got on my own before that but i plan to have a few to resell for a lot more when its all over

Nobody seems to be buying any minors or majors right now on my shard (with the exception of certain dye colors and the mempo).

Most are overflowing with the other minors and majors.

Maybe after the event is over and some time passes they will sell again.

Is your shard different?

People would buy them if they are well prices. I see Kasa of the Rajin selling for 900k-2mil. Obviously if you wanted it to sell, price it at 800k. You'll get enough for a mempo soon.

It just doesn't seem possible that I could get this many drops and not get one. I mean in reality a mempo costs less than most of us tip at a decent restaurant.

I put an ad up stating that I was looking to buy one myself. I'm right around where you are in total drops, and not one mempo yet. I'd rather get one now while they're still reasonably priced than after the event when they'll double in value. If I actually do manage to get a drop after I buy one, I'll just hang onto it for after the event to recoup my original costs plus make a tidy profit.

I hate exploiters as much as anyone else, but in the ToT system, other people, regardless of how they play, prevents you or anyone else from getting a Mempo.

They may end up with more drops thus more chances, but that does NOT EVER affect the chances you have of getting one. Even if the cheaters were NOT present, you'd still have threads like this one.

So let's keep on the dev team about cheaters, but let's keep it logical. Someone getting a Mempo is not automatically a cheater, and someone who may be cheating is not automatically preventing you from getting a Mempo.

And no, I also have not yet gotten a Mempo (though I haven't gone 400+ drops yet either), if I do, I'll be happy, if not, then I will save up to buy one and shop around accordingly.

I have gotten 3 but got them early on. I was out running amoke all over id kill a few beetles, demons, sucubi, lower end stuff, throw a few nets. I never killed but a few of each type and three poped in. True mostly high end critters.

Latley I have been doing ALOT of killing in the citadel and gotten no mempos?

They simply have more chances due to being ingame longer. I never said that relates to my chances. I gave up on a mempo long ago.

The object of "cheating" would be to have an advantage...you do not cheat to have a disadvantage. Of course I pointed that out only to say that you can not set it up so cheaters do not have an advantage, I am unable to think of a way that would make make cheaters less advantageous and ALL of the normal players more advantageous. =\

If you had been looting the gold the entire time, you'd probably have enough to just buy one of the mempo's. I only have around 30 minors (no Mempo), but I probably killed 300-500 Succubi to get them. If I'd looted all the gold I'd have around 500K. To get 456, I'd guess you had to kill about 15 times as many high end creatures. That would come to around 7.5 million gold.

OK...I'm wrong. The mempos are going to 25m right now, but in a week or two, they'll be around 5 million, so be patient (and start looting the gold).

I've only been keeping track since last Saturday (and took Tuesday off for movie night with the wife), but in the Yomotsu mines, tracking merely minor drops and 60,000 gold piles Bagged to the bank, I've netted over 2 million gold in addition to the minors (which I have turned some into majors and kept the rest)... it also doesn't count the gems looted and not yet sold either.

And I've seen Mempos on LS for 12m, so between gold looting and marketing minors or other items, getting a Mempo on the secondary market should NOT be that difficult depending on the price you are willing to pay.

The mempo was NOT made a major to show EA that UO could attract new accounts or get old ones back.

Ironically attracting cheater accounts (even for one month only ) may be this games salvation.

While I do appreciate the info that some LS player sells them for a mere 18 million, I do not even have 2 million nor the desire to clean out the mines. Appreciate the info tho.

Well I had 2 drop for me around the 130-140 arty drop range. I am now over 700 minors and still at 2. So I am over 560 drops without another. I wish I had kept count on the lock chests (which I turned in) and the blackrock. I am only guessing but I know for a fact i turned in at least 33 locked chests along with a few other minors to get a few items I needed. Also I have tossed at least 40 blackrocks in which I did not count towards my total. I know you want to know who has the most without a drop and I know my 130-140 doesn't count but, I am on a streak of 560+ dry spell.

It seriously makes we wonder if there is some sort of secret they are not telling us about how they drop. Like if you kill the same thing over and over you won't get one, because that's basically what I've been doing...

Still no mempo for me... certainly not for a lack of trying... can't seem to do anything else in game but hunt in tokuno... and I'm still irritated. Fine for you ya want it rare... not everyone should have one... but in my opinion if you really want one you SHOULD be able to work hard to obtain one on your own... but I'd say after 3 weeks of hunting and still not having one.... that's a bit excessive on the rarity scale. That's at least 2 weeks I've wasted that I could have spent doing things like Beta Testing... or helping newbies... or working on other fun projects but... I suppose that's by my own choice... but I do really want a mempo... and I don't have the gold to buy one... and I am not giving up.

It would be nice if there was some form of anti-farming code. But I somewhat agree with Malagaste. After how much time they have put into trying to get one, they should have gotten "one" that means that even with anti-farming code, the scripters would only get 1 mempo, perhaps something like if you have spent x amount of time trying to get one, on the last day of the event you get one. Not sure what "x" should be, maybe have it a limiter like if you spent more than x amount of time but less than y you should get one, would better relieve the scripters who got 0, since they would still get 0....but I guess people would complain cuase they spent "y" fully attended. (not like I would believe that, but meh)

But some form of system where you could get 1, only 1 tho, if you were really trying for it. Maybe anti-farming code would consist of "if you spent x amount of time and have not spent it in one spot" would work, since most farmers only spend their time in one area or another, maybe have it so you have to have visited several area's....I know if you were REALLY trying, you would try different monsters and not just rely on the boards since there has been alot of variation in what people are getting the drop from. Just my opinion but I like that it is rare and I got one after 30 or so drops, and only spent 9 hours total on the char who got it, was being a bit greedy and hoping for a second.

I would not mind one on the other shard I play tho >.> oh well, I am content with the one.

Well I got mine at drop #50ish and decided to go back for another -- and here I am 500 drops later with nothing (though I just sold all my dyes for 20 million gold).
