I am through for the evening, I will return around 4:00 PM EST on Sunday Novermber 24th.

Auction Winners

Please contact me after 4pm EST, and please be prepared to pay me for your auction winnings on either Atlantic or Pacific. You all have until midnight Wednesday November 27th to pay for your auction winnings. If you are having issues coming up with the gold, ask me for other additional payment methods.

Auction Sellers

I have packaged all the unsold items, I have sold about dozen or so items thus far, once I've collected more gold, I'll start paying out on the shard I received the gold on for each item. Please be patient and understanding. I will contact you when I am ready. Thank you!

Everyone

Thank you very much for participating. I hope you enjoy the thrill and the excitement. I apologize for any delays or errors I might have caused you.

That is quite a boatload of items! Thank you for running the auction house! That is no easy task to keep organized with all the chaotic bids and timing, making sure all of the books are correct and sealed, putting up all of the bulletin boards, watching bids, calculations, paying out gold, getting the right items to the right owners or buyers, getting the gold to the sellers while collecting payments from the buyers, and last but not least missing em events. I might have missed a few things here and there ^_^
But we know what you have done to run this ! Kudos!

Good job indeed. The magnitude of this auction was important as it paralleled that of a giant price check on the current rares market and showed me that collectors have the gold but just more careful on what they purchase. It also showed that quality of a piece is evermore so important than quantity, i.e. a great item will retain its value over time.

Everything went smoothly and thank you Nails for a simple and easy transaction for the items I won. I've never bought something so colorful and while definitely out of my comfort zone, I love the premise.

Some suggestions for future auctions. Disclaimer: These are just my personal view. Nails did a fantastic job and my suggestions are not to be critical of him, but to express what I as a buyer would like to see in future auctions.

1. Please do not allow anonymous sellers. As a buyer, I pay attention to the seller's name and not knowing whose items they are makes me personally less likely to bid even if I really want it. I won't buy items from people I view as destructive to the community or that I believe are involved in less than ethical practices. By not listing the seller or disclosing it (in other folks auctions), will usually stop me from tossing my gold into the mix. Who I'm supporting by buying an item means a lot to me, always has.

2. No more auctions with a reserve. I don't mind buyouts because they allow for additional items to be added, but I don't like the reserves. If a seller has a certain price they want to get for their item, than they should sell it at that. Auctions should be left to market and if that makes folks nervous than they shouldn't put their items in the auction.

3. If #2 was implemented, I think we'd naturally slim down the count. If it doesn't, limit the auction houses to two houses only. So many items at one time affects not only everyone's auctioned items, but the vendors as well.

4. If space is an issue with only having two auctions, than allow only x amount per person so more people get into the auction. More individuals in an auction, the better the economic impacts of other sales at the festival. After a two day window for submissions have passed than allow folks to submit additional items if there is space. We didn't have a problem this time as there were three houses and lots of space, but consolidating it to two houses is better. By limiting the items each person can initially submit, I think it would coax people to put the items that have more chance to get them a high price... better quality over quantity.

5. Stagger a seller's items over floors and homes. I saw a couple instances where it appeared character was bidding up only items from a certain seller. I'm not interested in pointing names and I know that there is no way to keep a seller from bidding up their item, but let's make it a bit more of a hassle at least rather than them doing circles on one floor.

Anyways, those are my suggestions. I know I'm only one person in a community and while my suggestions may not be adopted in the future... I feel better having said it. Thanks for listening!

I applaud nails consistent professionalism and utter dedication with these auctions, well done and the community definitely owes you a beer.. or two!

I also noticed the above happening (Assia's post) -- (especially in the no reverse auction house) and have mixed emotions about it. Yes it does make you feel a tad bit disgruntle but at the same time I can feel for the seller and them letting their piece go for far less than what it "may" be worth. I don't condone the actions of falsifying bids under a fake alias/icq and I believe there are ways to avoid this from happening, but nails is a one man show and at he end of the day he can only do so much to "police" these auctions. The people in questions, unfortunately, already have a poor image among most of the community so not much will change in that aspect ;)

With that being said.. Thanks to Nails for all the time.. effort and possible blood spilled to have these auctions operate as smoothly as they did!

This was an incredible auction. I can't even begin to think about how much time and effort it takes to set up three houses, collect that many auction items (and to contact and coordinate with a player base from all time zones and all parts of the world) and then run the auction for effectively six hours plus straight and to still have it go off without a hitch.

As for people running up the bids on their own items, I'm pretty sure there is nothing the auctioneer can do about it, since it is so easy to create multiple characters, with no way of anyone knowing for sure that character X is really the seller trying to run up the numbers. I think that is probably one of the inefficiencies of a game like this that we just have to live with. The end result i suppose is a very elaborate price check on some items, with the real victim being the auctioneer who spent all the time and effort, and in this case for no commission. Then again, maybe that is a partial solution - a commission might be a disincentive for people who aren't truly serious about selling from entering into an auction, especially if its going to cost you 40m to find out that the item you bought from yourself is worth "only" 400m.

Regardless, this whole event (raresfest and auction) was incredible and in my opinion as flawless as possible.

I do what to explicate to everyone, that Nails allowed me to put as many items in the auction as I did, because he was well aware that I had in my possession many other collectors rares that were entrusted to me to be transferred priced and "power of attorney-ed" on, and I expressed this to him ahead of time. So if you saw Decadence all over the place only about 3 of the items were actually mine ^_^

If they were all of my items alone he would not have allowed it. He also returned many of the items I submitted if someone else had one entered.

I also believe that the books marked Anonymous was actually the players name as I am familiar with a rares collector that goes by the name "Anonymous"

[Disclaimer: All comments are in my own humble opinion.] Nails is, by far, the single most important player in UO currently. He is the premiere example of honorable and trustworthiness.

Awesome transaction. Glad we could finally do some real business together, and hope to do much more in the future.
