2011 Holiday Gift Issues

I wish this stuff would go to Origin first so we can test and provide feedback.

1- Gift Tickets - No year on them. Easily confused with earlier years and makes difficult to sell on vendors as you cannot tell the year of the ticket. Labeling them 2011 Holiday Gift Ticket instead would have easily fixed this.

2 - Scroll of Trans Book - Why does this have to be locked down in a house? I don't have a house on every shard I play. Why can bod books be in your pack but these can't? I don't get it.

I'd like to be able to use it in a bank, but that's not the way it's been coded. I make the assumption that it's been done this way for a reason.

Good point.

Two solutions - works in bank box or is permenantly a 'cursed' item so if you bring with you to champ - it drops to corpse on death.

I play a half dozen shards and don't have houses on all of them.

Figured I would add to Gift Issues

I got a couple cards that are to "1_val" instead of my characters name.
Nothing really special about these characters names either and doesn't happen all the time.

My best guess is that it is easier to code it like that. The bank is an hidden backpack (at least it used to be coded like that). If it can work inside a backpack, then you must look for possible exploits and this means extensive testing.

By requiring it to be locked down, they can put the gift already ingame and later, if needed, when they are sure it works properly let them be used in bank.

I agree very strongly that the Christmas tickets should be labeled properly, LIKE the anniversary tickets are. When storing them for “down the road”… you have to then activate the ticket, without choosing anything, to see what ticket you have exactly. Last year, when I needed icicles… I learned this lesson very well. It was driving me bonkers I seamed to have over 99% of the newer ones and less then 1% of the old and couldn’t tell them apart. I ended up buying new ones and then finding I had them all along. lol. Now we have a 3rd of the same color with the same name.

BUT… this house sign I’ve been waiting, hopping up and down on my toes… it doesn’t seam to work at all. You can enter text as long as it's in your backpack, lock it down, it shows nothing. Testing? The test shard? Maybe on the staff only shard they have? I know we don’t want to spoil the surprise and all, but for crying out loud. I really want this sucker to work.

Let the book work on the HS line of boats. Nothing from having a boat on every shard. And a boat parked near a champ spawn will be a tasty target for pirates.

1 - They do have a year? Top line in yellow, even.

2 - Bods don't come from champ spawns before being put into blessed books. SoTs do. Maybe make it being in your bankbox enough?


Also, holiday cards DO have a major problem.. its just something else entirely...

I have the same thing happening as well. However, when I put the card in a char backpack it displays the chars name. Then when I take it out of the chars backpack and put in another box it reverts back to 1_val AND the Dev name changes also. Strange......

Even stranger... I dont have to transfer card from secure container in house to a backpack. When I pick the card up and move it around in the container it also changes the EM's name.

The Holiday Gift Ticket last year didn't have a year associated with it either. I don't recall that it ever has.

For placing on a vendor you can dbl click on it first to see which year it is then put that in the text on the vendor.

Would still be nice if they added a year to the tickets though.

I experienced that issue. My door opens directly onto the house steps. When I placed the mat on the steps I was able to exit the doorway onto the steps; however, I was not able to go back inside the house. The mat blocked entry.

I used a decorator tool to lower the mat. Only then was I able to reenter the house.

It appears that this happens if there are no extra tiles separating the doorway from the steps (such as a porch or yard area between them).

...and what would have been nice is if the SOT book would work like a bod book with pricing so you could sell out of the book on vendors.

How I hate searching through a pack of pinks - book makes it so much easier.


Much like the manequin would have been 100x more useful if it added up the stats of the armor/items on it for suit building. It sucks to build a gargoyle suit if your crafter is not gargoyle. Its excel spreadsheets for the win.

Only if the vendor owner puts the year into the "description" when they place and price it on the vendor.

Then you just have to trust it's accurate.

It is the round one that block movment if u place it next to the front stairs also sometimes when u open the door the mat goes ontop of door

It acts like a goza that u raised up 1 click

They should have made that one deeded aswell

Actually 2 issues.

1: It doesn't center on the double doors

2: I can see that it acts like it's raised a bit, as you can see from the picture it looks like it's overlapping the bottom of my robe but it's not blocking my movement at all, I can still walk through the door and over the rug.

Apparently it only blocks when it's on the outside steps with no extra tile between the steps and the door. But I'm using the rounded one. I guess I'll redeem the square one and try that out as well.

Yeah, ya' have to love the Santa. I think that's probably my favorite holiday gift, all previous years included.

Addendum: Tried out the square mat but cannot use it since it's a deed and can't be placed on steps. Guess I'm stuck with the round one with the warped edge.

I've never used gozas. Thanks for the suggestion... I'll try it and see if it helps!

Foiled again. A goza is a deed... couldn't place it on the steps. I hope they can fix the rounded mat. I'm thinking of placing it in mothballs, so to speak, until (or if) they make it sit right without lifting up on one side. I could redesign the house, of course, and add two doors and a porch so I could use the square mat instead. But I don't want to do that just so I can use a welcome mat.

Or the Devs could have literally changed a single line of code from 'A Holiday Ticket' to '2011 Holiday Ticket'.
