[Discussion] 2010 Pacific Rares/Events Festival April 16, 17, 18

The Pacific shard is holding its first Rares and Events Festival beginning on Friday the 16th of April.

We are proud to announce that the Master of Ceremonies will be Manticore, well known for his knowledge in UO rares.

~Auction will be held on Sunday the 18th at noon PST. Items auctioned off at no charge. Coordinator: Crystal Rose ICQ 98206739
~People wanting to place vendors can post here along with some of the items they will be selling. Rares Vendor House Committee Coordinator: Miss D ICQ 285571447. Her house will be the "main" centralised location for rares vendors although there will be rares vendors peppered throughout Luna as well.

~The Events Committee Coordinator is BlazNStar ICQ 302977749

~There will be a Rares Road Show hosted by Manticore and PFloyd. Bring your rares to have them identified, analyzed and categorised.

~Cortez will be running his famous casino, Yardman will hold a raffle and Norman Bates will be hosting the You Bet Your Life game show (ingame event) if he can get away from the front desk at the motel. [edit] Mmmmmother had a fit and demanded that Norman will NOT be leaving the motel so....Groucho Marx will be hosting the "You Bet Your Life" game show.

I will be posting a schedule of events here as soon as it is completed as well as more information as it comes in.

If there is an overflow, people can place vendors at my house which is directly South of Rares Vendor Location.... and if that's still too small.. I have an empty castle I could co-own someone to to use for the festival. I have Teleports in Luna that could be used by people to get to the Castle.. This might be a bit premature or you may have already mentioned it and I missed it... Do you have plans as to when will we be able to set up the vendors? In several previous festivals vendors have been set up almost a week before the official start date.

Also, last rares festival there was a pet auction for some rare/non-spawning pets as well as a few that do. Is this something you are looking to do for this festival?

I would just like to organize myself a little better this time around

I see no problem with having a pet auction during the festival. I'll check with the Events coordinator (BlazNStar) to make sure we have time for one during the 3 day event. Buyers would need to know the info about the pets up for auction well in advance in case they would need to xshard a tamer and still being able to carry back packies with gold and goodies.

As far as when the soonest vendors can be set up, Miss D will contact the people on the vendor list on or around April 10th to come to Pacific to place their vendors.

Quick question/opinion here:
Isn't PAH having a Rares Auction on March 28th on Pacific Shard defeating the purpose of the Rares Fest that is going to be happening April 16, 17 & 18?

Not trying to be an A$$, however, why would PAH host the RARES Festival Auction AND have their own Rares Auction 3 weeks prior? I know that PAH provides a free ride from a different shard each time they (PAH) have a Rare Auction, however, this is a bit close to the actual Festival and will detract from it, in my opinion.

Just a thought is all this is.
