Hiya, Just started playing and have magery 100 and mystic 100 going for 120 along with eval med resists etc. Just wanted to know what spells you cast and how ya stay alive in pvm. I was in Blackthornes Castle and those damn casters are tough. Grant it I cast my RC then try to invis but when you have 3-4 casting on you its hard as hell and the poison omg lol. PLease any advise would be great. And while we are on the subject of the castle. I didn't get 1 drop artifact wise in an hour killing those mages. Do you have to loot them or do they automatically pop in your bag after you kill them? Please let me know. Thanks...

1st off ANY mage with multiple casting monsters attacking him is going to have a difficult time doing any casting. Monster Casting is different than player casting & doesn't follow the same rule set. Monsters "QUE" up 2-3 spells on a target so it's possible to have those spells go off on you when your invisible or even out of range. The simple solution since your a Mystic is just to go into Stoneform with the "protection" spell up which slows down your casting but makes it so you cannot be interupted. This will allow you to get off the invisibility spell to get all the monsters to focus on your Rising Collosus and then you can Heal yourself with Cleansing Winds. Stoneform will make you immune to poison when your all 120's and raise your resists so you take less dmg. As far as the drops go if your wearing a luck suit I hear you can get 2-3 per hour if your killing stuff VERY quickly but 1 per hour is about what to expect so unless you did like 10 hours down there to get a good average you just need to put in more time.

Its easier than it sounds: Prepare before you enter the area. Pre-Cast RC but dont drop the Colossus. Run into the room, place the RC and run out. Then cast Invis. You should make an Invis-Macro, so you just have to press a button. Something like F1 or so.

And DJAd is right, it is inevitable to use Protection - the mages cannot interrupt your spells then. Consequently, you need a suit that compensate the malus on resis.

If I were you, I would try to combine this template with stealth and hiding. No problems anymore. You can manage and explore any dungeon on your own and have enough offensive power:

120 Mysticism
120 Focus

(RC is too sweet on this level, dont waste points elsewhere!)

100 Hiding
80 Stealth

(Your life insurance. Nothing funnier and more relaxing than stealthing)

Rest on Eval Int, Meditation and Magery (e.g. Eval Int 120, Magery 100, 80 Medi - you dont need high ManaReg when watching your RC at work while hidden)

Good luck!

Arties in Blackthorns dungeon pop into your pack. Sometimes they are small and you cant see them too well. Also for training you might want to invest in a knowledge ball if you can find one for sale or there is a quest in Ter Mur you can do to get one for yourself. A knowledge ball will tell you what gives optimal gains for the skill you are training. I must say though you seem to be doing alright in that regard. Sounds like you are having fun! :)

Wow nice replies, thank you all. Question. I heard the RC is awesome but I tried to solo the gold golems or whatever they are called in Blackthornes and I dont know if the lich standing near the golem casted dispel but my RC disappeared fast. So how much can an RC handle? Don't want to get in over my head lol.

RC's only last about a minute so you have to cast them alot. They can be dispelled by some casting monsters. Lichs are notorius dispellers :rant2: but if you get rid of that one you should be fine with the golden elementals

On all my non-melee characters I have always found room for GM Hiding even on my Mystic/Mage. Ever since I started I have found Hiding has saved me no end of times. To cast invis is fine but takes time but if you have GM Hiding and are not a target it is instant so with a macro it is a key-press and you are gone. Even if you are a target if you can run 8 paces and then press the key you CANNOT fail to hide at GM. As a mage I can cast my EVs or other summons at distance and then hide while they do their work.

Doesn't suit everyone I guess but I find it invaluable. For me discretion has always been the better part of Valour.

Also keep in mind that as your mystisism gets higher your RC will get stronger and better able to resist being dispelled.

Exactly what Bobar and Merus said. On all of my 4 accounts I have at least one mage-mystic with hiding and stealth. While stealth is optional and good for maneuvering and looting, hiding is s must have without stealh you could go for spellweaving. But I would always choose stealth. It means true freedom and control.

Invis potions are ok on a Dexxer but don't compare to Magery invis bc you cannot precast invis and have the ability to "drop" it when you want. Trying to setup certain peerless with invis potions is a pita butt heh..
