There have been many times when I had a single item or a couple items on one shard and wanted to move it to another shard. I didn't want or sometimes did not have the gold/cash to purchase one or more character transfer tokens. So here is my proposal:

This could be set up in banks already out there but I would say one bank location per shard. In this example lets use West Brit Bank. You purchase a single use Safety Deposit Box that will hold one single item(either ingame gold sink or UOStore.) (A single use is placing the item in the box and removing it.)

The SDB(Safety Deposit Box) is account bound. It will not hold staked items or Cursed Items. There will be a 12 to 24 hour timer on the SDB. Once used there is a 12 to 24 hour cool down period where you may not do another one on your account.

I propose that it should cost no more than 100K per use. That way if you wanted to pass a million gold to a character on another shard it would cost you 100K on the sending end.

Another idea would be to have different levels of SDB: 1 item, 5 items, 10 items, etc. Anyway, I am sure there would be a lot more to it but it is just a thought.

EA sells tranfer tokens for real money, not gold.
I think this idea will not be embodied.

I guess you did not read the whole post. It is stated that EITHER a gold sink or UOStore (probably should have said ES Store) but I did put that in there. So it could be a moneymaker for them as well!

I would be pro a shared bank among all char on one shard. Up the item limit in the bank to 700 or 800 and it would be the same bank for all char.

Maybe a new post for this idea, but I think that would be a good idea. As much as I would love to be able to pass items from one shard to another I gotta say I cannot see this being put in. Im not trying to get down on our devs, but lets just say they are not very timely in fixing problems or even implimenting new things that work right off the bat. And they seem to have a pattern if a bug arises it somewhat follows the following criteria...

1. If said bug gives an advantage to players, it is usually fixed instantly.
2. If said bug is detrimental to the players, it can go years without being fixed. (faction sheriffs and finance ministers?)

Anyone else see this pattern?

Just another way to avoid risk and get your rewards???

I could get a char on a lame duck shard ( not much action ) and just farm the items / scrolls I want and just drop them off to move them to a populated shard???

Bad idea ??

this is kin to having powerscrolls in tram rulest sorry I cannot agreee on this idea

It'll never happen unless its the same as equaling $20 [if thats what a transfer token cost] per transfer.

You can take 7*125 items per transefer so it would have to equate to that in some way and HAVE to be purchased off EA.

Good idea though, its a pain trying to find others who need a transfer so you can all share a token and bring the cost down, but its happening all the time [transfers and sharing]. I think WOW or another game would have to introduce it before UO will do it as they seem to like coppying but those games wont for the same reason UO wont..... $$$$$$$$$$$$ :D

Um, we already have this. All that's required is a transfer token.

Most ppl buy tokens from brokers so ea is losing out already.
Maybe I missed something, but do brokers have a magic hat they pull tokens out of? Don't they have to buy them from EA? So whether its from EA or a broker, every transfer puts money in EA's pocket...

This will not happen. 100k UO gold is about 10 cents US dollars. There is no way they are going to trade in $20 US dollars per shard transfer for 10 cents. This is an idea that'd never happen. If you paid with in game money it'd need to be around 20 million UO gold to make the $20 US dollars. And EA will not lose revenue to make things easier for anyone. And like others posted it would flood shards with items that otherwise wouldn't and shouldn't be there. (good way to destroy an economy and drop prices fast)

Yes I agree. EA isn't losing money by people buying from in game vendors. Those people had to buy those tokens from EA at one point in time. They don't magically appear.

I'm against this. While I'd like the convenience of it, we do have a way currently to get items to other shards... the shard transfer token. To put something in-game that circumvents the usefulness of that will ultimately take away from EA.

When I have something on one shard, I usually wait until I go there for something else or there are many who are trusted in the rares community who will transfer your item for you if they are headed in your direction - most of the time for free or for amount much, much lower than the in-game cost of a transfer token. Just a suggestion, but as with any situation where like this or holiday x-shard trading, you should always check their references.

Alot [if not all now] of the tokens did magically appear in the 2 massive dupes :(

I could see it happening and being fesable if you could buy a token for say $3 that would just transfer say, you bank or your backpack [just one container of 125 items]. Then its going to be around the same as a $20 transfer = 7 containers.

I like this idea better :) Even if it was scaled back to $5 for 50 items that would work for a lot of people and EA would still make money.

I really like this idea, and would use it. I have a beautiful black angle box on SP I would love to have on my shard. This one item transfer would be used by me many times to get all my rare gifts back to my shard, safely.

Still won't happen. Ea makes the most profit they can. They won't drop prices when people will pay full price.

Coming from slower shards where you cannot find squat, I love the idea of being able to go to a bank from all shards but... ea would never let it happen as character xfer sales would be even more damaged than they are now.

Cool idea... just never going to happen. i share xfers with buddies i trust to absorb the 17-20 mil one way.

I disagree, id pay $5 to transfer my bank or my backpack probably once a month as its affordable [as i get paid monthly].

Wereas right now i transfer a char once a year as i cant afford $20 every month at a costs per transfer.

Id much rather transfer every month for $5 than wait 4 months to do 1 transfer costing $20

See how it still works good for EA? and plus all the old duped tokens that brokers sell and EA get nothing from them will become null and void [e.g they wont be able to sell them for gold and make money off there duped tokens :)

In my oppinion win win all round for US and EA

thanks

Well most people dont transfer 700 plus items each time they Xshard with a token. They go for items. The cost $20 to $40 depending on how you travel.

So... you would cut into transfer token profit by making it $5 bucks for a bank transfer for 25 items (lets say). This way you dont event need to move, create or delete charactures. Just use the "safety deposit" idea that OP proposed.

Just keep that in mind. But I like the idea of having it be a gold sink.

But for me a gold sink is like 1 million per item. Anything else isn't really a gold sink.

So... I don't know 1 million for 1 item is worth it. To send 10 million to one place it would cost you 10 million. Im good with that as a gold sink.

I agree. EA will still never go for this. We don't need people to be able to transfer a ton of items from shard to shard. It will DESTROY the economy of the shard your transfering all the garbage to. People just need to live with what they have, or pay the $20.

I would go for an SDB only on a per-shard basis and not for xshard transfers. As others have pointed out that would nullify/impact the EA sales.

On an account-bound, timed per-shard item it has merit in the ability to transfer goods between characters where one may not be quite ready to journey to a house. Thus 100K for a 24-36 hour SDB that has a 10 item limit would be fine with me.

But not for cross-sharding.

Is that a joke?

I transfer ALOT of garbage to a shard just to cover the cost of my transfer token so i can get 1 item there....

If i could buy a 1 item transfer i wouldn't have to buy 50 items i can sell for a total of 20mill profit to pay for the transfer i need for 1 item lol!!

Thus it would actually stop xfering of garbage i.e i just made 3 transfers this week from different servers to atlantic, Atlantic now has 358 more items than it did before, an i only wanted to transfer 3 items to atlantic, i just had to transfer crap there to cover my cost [and the tokens were from brokers not EA so there probably dupes and EA isnt making anything from them]..
