16th year veteran rewards!

Hello everyone. I know, I know... the 16 year anniversary is still months out there, but hey, how about some ideas or suggestions and some brainstorming for possible reward choices? Please vote on the ones I have thought of, and/or feel free to add your own to he thread! =).

Choice A: An ethereal dragon. Fully rideable, and can fly over water. (no fishing can be done, although I feel combat/spellcasting over water is acceptable).

Choice B: Similar to when AOS was released, players were able to select sandals, roses, sashes, robes, ect. with their characters name, and a few lines of text. How about for playing 16 years, a choice can be selected to pick an already existing in-game artifact, the ability to chose the color/hue, and the ability to add custom text? Examples:
an ornament of the magician, when clicked on says: Dimitri's antique wristwatch; Europa gold color
captain morgans rum, when clicked on says: Dimitri's Wicked Garden Whiskey, Maturing Since July 8th 1998; Zog green color
a conjurers garb, when clicked on says: Ive been playing since 1998, and all I have is this robe!; Hot pink color
a tangle, when clicked on says: Dimitri's flower chefs apron; violet courage purple color.

Now I know there may be some objections for the ability to have custom high end artifacts, so how about having the "owned by" tag attached to these items, so only the owner can use them and they cannot be used by others?

Choice C: Real Estate Mogul's Tool. This would allow you to place a second house on the same account. Maybe a few restrictions? Such as if you already own a castle you can only place a smaller house? Or if you own a 15x15, you can place up to another 15x15?

OR! how about clicking an option to receive a RL piece of UO merchandise? Say a coffee mug, a t-shirt or a hat? For the hundreds and thousands of dollars some have paid over the years, I see no problem in having the ability to get a 5$ coffee mug =).

Among other ideas in that thread, I like a lot the idea of a Saddle which would make the real Greater Dragon (and other real mounts not rideable), an actually rideable mount though, it should not be for 16 years but as a lower year reward (like 8th or 9th, IMHO...).

A 16th Year Veteran Reward usefullness should be comparable to that whopping high time spent supporting the game. I mean, that is a remarkable 192 months of loyal, uninterrupted active subscription status !!!

A token or code that can be used on any UO account that shares the same Mythic account linkage as the one that claimed the token.

I do like this idea... for example I were to use this choice on my 2nd account which is only 6 years old, would I get all of the vet reward choices that come with bringing it up to 16 years? Or for that matter, starting a new account and doing the same?

How about for a 16 year vet reward we get a sweet 16 birthday cake that has 10 pieces and recharges 1 piece every 5? Min. Make the single pieces stack & basically act like a Gheal potion but not on the Gheal timer. Something with a definite use but not overpowering imo. Maybe have the cakes / pcs in random color & have the character name attached.

or maybe it can have 2 lawn chairs and a cooler out infront of it so we can kick back in style at a EM event.

A 7x7 camp site with the tent or gypsy wagon. Camp fire with the tent set up. Hitching post with gypsy wagon. Shack with an anvil and field crafter set up. Deed form picked by 16 year vet that can be used by 3 year and older accounts. Same locks on site as a 10x10 house. Decay rate while placed slightly slower then a boat decay. At decay deed returns to character that placed it, dumping held items on ground. Rowboat return thing. Site has no security, placed containers deco does. Gives that 2nd - whatever your pick count is of homes that can even be on other shards. They just wont stick around cluttering the land just because you never removed your credit card information. Placement in legal housing locations will cut down on most the greifing.​

As long as there are common items that don't stack, more storage is a good thing, but shouldn't be limited to 16 yr old accounts.

The problem with a T-Shirt or Mug is it is a Real Life Expense, that will continue until they shut the Lights off. While giving an In-game item is simply some Code and some Artwork. Once it done and paid for, it no longer costs money. Considering how small our Dev Team keeps getting, they really need to watch the Purse Strings.
And while a Ridable Dragon would be totally awesome, the time and money needed to not only do artwork for the Dragon, plus modifying art files for the rider itself, may be cost prohibitive. I remember Draconi sayign years ago it would be simply too costly. And that's when we had a lot more Subscribers.
I personally always liked the idea of a Magic Carpet to fly around on. But then again, the Art Files to make every toon appear to be sitting in it would be too much.
The idea of a second house will always be off the table as many of us have 2nd and 3rd Accounts for the very reason of having additional properties. By giving a 16th Year Vet a second house would end up encouaging them to close an account. Or at least more reason to do so.
So where does that leave us ? A simple yet cool Reward of some kind. Not strictly Deco, but something that also has some functionality to it. And not just one new item, but 2 or 3 to chhose from. One idea I always thought would be cool is kinds based on the Flaming Head Deed. But in it's 16th Year Vet Version, you could place it around your front door area and it would breathe Fire on any Aggro-able Monster. So if you live in an area with some sort of spawn, you may not always have to worry about getting attacked as you recall in to your front door. The artwork is in place, and could be remade rather inexpensively, and has a cool purpose.
Another item I think would be cool would be a Crafting Tool that that only make special items that the regular ones can not make. The Vet Hammer and Chisel might be able to make special stone benches and tables, or special Statues. A Smith's Hammer may be able to create a special looking armor, or perhaps even Special Horse Barding. That way the Vet can make these special items for Sale and prosper for the a Vet.
Finally, and I like this item a lot, would be a special trash Barrel. It would operate much like the Sacrifical Altar in that it disposes of refuse, but can be Secured and Released when and where it's needed. How many time have you been in one area of your house doing some cleaning and needing your trash Barrel, but it's secure on another floor and on the opposite side of the house. Sure you can destroy it and replace it, but that a hassle. And the best part is that you could Secure it on the Large Brittania Boat. Been fishing all day in the middle of nowhere and got Shoes and Boots all over the place? Now you just a trash barrel right there on your boat. Perhaps even on the Tukono, Gargoyle, and Orc ships, you could Secure it where a cannon would go. Now that's an item that would go a long way making things easier !

Any reward that is added to the Vet Reward system should be added to the 1st-5th years only and be usefull to all players.
1st yr 3 rewards (no change)
2nd-5th 1 reward per year (no change)
6th-10th 2 rewards per year (no change)
11th-15th 3 rewards per year
16th-20th 4 rewards per year
no age limit to use any reward as promissed by Devs (execptions are the account bound rewards)

I have three old accounts one that was mine from the start all 189 months. I say, No major advantage.

Here are my ideas for us old times:

Another house on any shard including those that have Grandfathered accounts would be nice (can only buy one)

A dye tub that makes robes invisible so you can see the clothing underneath would be good.

Teleporter when you put in a rune book into it and defaulted to one of the runes it makes a gate to that location for an hour can use once a day.
or use Gate scrolls as charges depending on how many gate scrolls you have in the teleporter depends how long the gate stays up.

An eitheral summonngspirit or traveling out of your body when summoned you go invised then you are in control of a spirit like in ghost mode but can move extremely fast for a little while to move around a dungeon just to look around.

Choice E: Invisible Armor (No stats, not reforgeable, not imbuable, but medable).
Choice F: The ability to telefrag someone, if you resurrect on the same tile he is standing.
Choice G: Moderator rights for the general chat.
Choice H: A rollback button, where you can rollback the shard you're currently playing by 8 hours (this works cumulative and will also remove applied patches).
Choice I: The ability to run backwards.
Choice J: A tameable paragon mongbat.

New aspect of the game. Will be received once after a character logs in that has reached 15 years of age. Current characters 15+ years of age will receive one once the ability is applied to the game. The one item that will be placed in a 15+ year account's backpack, one time ever, is a Cowpye. Can only be thrown at another player character who's account is less then 3 years old. A three year or younger character can only be pelted by a Cowpye once. The pelted will never receive a Cowpye the first time they log in after character turns 15 years old. (sure at 30th anny they will apply something new for them to use on 30+ aged characters) At their 15th birthday they will receive a Throwing Pickle that works like a Cowpye, but don't give them any increase. They will have an empty pickle jar placed in pack after hitting a target. Acts like a container once locked down that doesn't add to house locks. The target of the Cowpye and the thrower upon a hit is made, will both have their pet slot count raised by one. Perma. Age of 15+ year veteran characters hanging out at Haven. Throwing Cowpyes at anyone that is on the isle.

Actually it's pretty hard to make an 8 skill template, because first if you forget to lock med & focus, one could be over 8 within seconds. Second hitting 8 exactly also isn't that easy, since you gain in pretty big steps. And if you overshoot the targeted 8 points, the only way to remove them is with soulstones...

I guess I'm not considered a "vet" yet since I haven't hit 10 years yet on any of them.

No wonder I usually avoid these threads. Vet reward discussions are for the old, wrinkled farts hobbling around and using canes, not lovely and spry young'uns like me!

53 accounts would be a pancake to list all ages so lets just say a handful over 15 and handful between 10 and 14 +
A good size of a handful 6+ to 9+ and a small but active bunch 3 to 5+ ...then you got a tiny little bunch who are under 3 years old and chomping at the bit for rewards..... hehe
So depending on which account I am on.... the answer if being a vet is questionable.

Well, if there could be a problem with the size of a mounted Greater Dragon which would need to be smaller that the actual size of a dismounted Greater Dragon, at least to me this would not be a problem especially considering that when dismounted the size of the Greater Dragon would go back to normal.
It is more about the fun idea of riding a Greater Dragon and also avoid the annoyance of other MoBs distracting it when going through the levels of a dungeon to the end place where the player wants to go to.

The idea of a special saddle as a new Veteran Reward to make a Greater Dragon (but also other non rideable mounts...) rideable, is one that I like a lot. I just think that 16 years uninterrupted active account is quite a milestone and therefore such a saddle could perhaps be too little for such a top end actiove age ? Perhaps make it 10th or 11th year ?

I like the idea of the ridable dragon. Everyone should be able to ride it though. It would make for some good pvp over water it would also be nice to have like a harrower drop somewhere in the water areas in fell.

Instead of worrying about Vet Rewards, the developers need to spend their time fixing bugs and creating NEW IDEAS such as trying to add "Swimming Ability" to the game. So if your ship sinks in the ocean you can swim to shore provided a shark doesn't eat you on the way. Fun!!

Or, how about dropping a ride-able magic carpet once a month hidden in a cave or on the ground somewhere or mined, or requiring a special tool -- ah a 16 year vet reward could be a tool that allows the Veteran players to hunt for the magic carpet like a metal detector. hahah .. oops getting carried away here as I think it would be a long time in making a flying carpet appear in the game but the tool, well, .. make it available to others by EA selling the tool to make money for the game to continue. Players would have to roam all the lands looking and watching for one to appear. Good experience for them and Fun!

As per definition, you are a vet as soon as you get a vet reward. At least that's what I would say.
I have just a single account and when it comes to age, you beat me with 7 accounts of yours, so I guess you're the older and more wrinkled one (yeah, I know, that is always a nice thing to say to a girl )

Perhaps a good reward would be a tool that allows you to make cloth or armor "etherial".... so no one can see it..... turns black when in your pack but is invisible when worn.... can come like the armor engraving tool and have charges that would need to be refilled...... Just saying that might be a VERY nice vet reward.

I was re-reading ImaNewbie after a lot of years, enough that I'd forgotten his tongue-in-cheek suggestions. I do like the miniature of a player, not just the statues we have.
