Subject says it all. Been playing almost 10 years. Some things *I* would like to see/think would be cool.
Feel free to make suggestions/comments.
1.) Fix stealing... Please. Or at least make some *tweaks*
a.) The thief as a profession really got nerfed with item insurance. I like the idea of getting insurance money for attempting to steal an item which is insured.
b.) Make NPCs spawn (once again) with a small amount of gold/items for the pickins.. like how the nobles and seekers of adventure used to spawn with around 500 gold, a gem or 2 and an item.. and merchants with the lockable box of gold.
c.) (IMO) Traditionally, Lockpicking is a rogue skill, not a treasure hunting skill. Make a stealing use for it, not just town/dungeon chests, or treasure chests.
d.) Stealing quest system... NPC thiefs, or other unscruplious characters can offer quests for the thief in practice. Maybe along the lines of "Break into this NPC house.. (omg a use for lockpicking) steal this quest item, and return it to me for your cut" Maybe you fail the quest if certian criteria are not met.. like if the NPC your trying to rob detects you, if you are seen, or guard whacked..
e.) NPC Theifs should attempt to steal random items from you.. and flag criminal if you detect them. Could be kinda fun too. Hire an NPC thief, set him to work, and come back later and see what hes got for you, if hes still alive =)
f.) Look into the skill gains for stealing.. [sarcasm]Because everyone knows a good cunning thief masters his skills by ganking dye tubs from horses.[/sarcasm]
2.) Boats. I have 2 classic towers next to eachother. I still want my swamp city house boat. (maybe you can only sail with it in deep water? maybe a hold below? maybe a limit of 25 items to lock down on the deck? options to place *one* vendor on the deck? or my cannon perhaps?) If item count was really a big concern, we wouldn't have cupons claiming to owe us cake...
3.) Tram/Fel Lore. Make more drastic world map changes to the overall physical appearance of Tram, Fel, or both... rather than being exact duplicates of the world. If you can do it with Haven/Ocllo, do it with the rest of the map. Make NEW towns... not 'copy/paste' and hope taking foilage off the trees makes it look completely different. Tram and Fel ARE supposed to be different "Moons" of the world. They should at the VERY LEAST have physical differences, not just trees and foilage.
a.) Theres also a lot of water on the map. Time to add an island or two to explore. Maybe keep it off the map too, kinda like a secret/hidden place. (Buc's Den was supposed to be hard-to-get-to originally, by sailing or a rune. Not walking through a moongate or teleporter.)
4.) Bernake is trying to fix our economy before it hits a recession.. How about some attention to UO's economy since its FAR beyond a recession? I dont know much about economics... I'm going to school for architecture... but would a new currency help us in this direction? Maybe monsters start spawning with [insert name of currency here] instead of gold? And a FINITE number of this currency as well to help maintain a balance? Maybe a ticket system trade-in of sorts so people dont complain about their billions of gold going *poof* (now how could that be a bad thing...)
5.) AI. Implement line of sight, REAL line of sight. (similar to Diablo) If your character doesnt have a clear field of view, he CANNOT see what is there. No seeing monsters/NPCs/PCs through walls, around corners, or if they/you are hiding behind an object. Your character or NPC wouldnt even appear on the screen until you have a clear field of vision.
6.) A use for dead skills. (camping, item id...) Maybe give bonuses to the appropriate fields.. (ranger, craftsman...)
Just some things ive thought of. =)
