No ETA. Do not patch to diff cities until I sound all clear.

Confirming KIR's post. I also just left the pub and found I can not patch back to the production cities. Castanet error message.

It is just past midnight where I am and I for some reason can't patch back to TC3 after visiting TC1. The update keeps failing. Any help would be great.


EDIT: Oh, didn't read the first post completely, I don't like the sound of that... I can still play in TC1 but it's near dead...

I too am getting the same error when trying to switch to TC3. I can play in the other cities.

They have have restarted some services on our patching servers and I have asked that they flush the cache. This may help the issue. I will let you know they are done and then we will have to wait see if it improves.

I have informed everyone I can at this point and left my numbers so they can call me if they need me to help but as of right now its in the hands of NetEng, SO-Unix.

Tomorrow is a big update day so I have to get some sleep. They will wake me when they have information and I will update you all.

I have been able to get into TC3 without any Castanet error warnings, but I am having a bit of an odd problem. Though I'm playing in full screen mode, the game opens in a window againgst a black field. Please tell me this is because of the server trouble, and not a problem with my game or comp.


[Edit] I was playing til 5:00 am this morning befor maintenance, with no trouble at all in full screen mode.

First of all I gather that Lee and the team have called it a night now.
You're lucky, it gives an error message and quits. If you have a sim in TC1 it would be great if you'd sign on 'cause I can't get to sleep and have nothing much better to do than wait or simply skill at my lot. (I'm Medieval PB Three in both TC1 and TC3).

EDIT: Oh, Lee hasn't called it a night yet I see though.

When I tried again it gave me an updater-update but still no...
My Dad and I have figured this out long ago: Always add at *least* 2-3 times to your estimate on how long things will take. Computers are so unpredictable...

Like Lee said, the patching server is down again. There is no ETA on it. (4th time)

Very much so SilverSpike, it's better than sitting around waiting and doing roof art for my TC1 property with my 450+k that is soon to be wiped anyway. May as well make use of my needless amount of cash on something that may help business when TC1 gets merged with TC3.
The roof art says "P.I" as in "Paradise Island". My place is named "ParadiseIslandLuxuryMart".

Thanks Lee for keeping on top of this problem. I am on the East Coast and am still getting the Castanet error message at 10:45 am EST. I did briefly visit TC3 this morning using my husband's computer that was already patched to TC3. My advice to others is to not try to switch versions until this gets fixed or you will be stuck in the castanet error and verifying loop.

Still no ETA. The problems you are reporting appear to be concentrated from players East of the Mississippi river.

Sorry for all you outside the continental US I don't know how to classify it any other way yet.

Can those of you confirm or deny any of this? Anyone west of the Mississippi river having trouble?

I know I am able to patch just find so I fall into the west group.

is it me or is it boring without sims i ll shake them castanets , wish it would hurry up , i keep moving the furniture around in my living room and hurt my back .. from the uk and has the same problem which side of the mississippi am i? bad enough trying to locate me sim let alone myself.

Nope, still no luck. I get the castanet error when updating the updater to the latest version.

I'm in England and as of now ( 17:34pm,) my error message has slightly changed.
Now saying 'There was an error reading from the network. This may be due to connectivity problems or the server may be down due to maintenance.' Then I get 'there was an error updating the updater'.. so I click retry and it tries to download updates but gets stuck on installing and says 'waiting for a response from downloads.tso.ea.com:26100'.
Then after it hangs for a few mins I'm back to the castanet error.


Logging in using EALand desktop icon.

Cannot update from old cities to TC3.

Stuck in game verification loop.

Unable to connect to updater.

Logged in using

C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims Online\TSOPatch TSO.exe

Sorry , not brave enough to wreck my EALand installation.

1pm eastern in Ohio...error changed from the castanet to error reading from network. Using windows xp and log in from desktop

Verifying install again for the 4th time... I'm in the same loop.
Not getting a castanet error. It's something about the server. I'll post it once I get there again.

Ok here's the error I'm getting, word for word:

"Failed to connect to the server. This may be due to networking issues or could be due to scheduled server maintenance. Please verify your network connection and select 'Retry' to attempt to update the game again, or select 'Quit" to exit the game."

So I hit 'Retry." It asks me to select which place I want to go to. I hit the TC3 button. It tells me "An error was detected on the last game update attempt." blah blah blah "need to verify game installation." So I'm back in the loop again.
