Stratics Forum Restore Update - July 13

We are very happy to let you know that we recovered a large amount of posts during the data import and appreciate your patience during our downtime this weekend.

The imported posts are not currently visible. Now that they are in the database they have to be manually moved from the old categories into the new. We will be doing that throughout the week as quickly as possible.

We were unable to automatically merge the imported users with the existing accounts. These will be manually done. Please email [email protected] with your previous account information and your current account information and we will manually merge those accounts as quickly as we can. Some users who were not able to be imported may be recovered and imported at a later time, but the forums will not need to be taken down for that.

If you see any abnormalities with your username/account/posts please contact us via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the forums or email directly to [email protected]

Just checking... I found mine on like the 2nd or 3rd page of the imported. Strange how the imports aren't an alphabetical order by the name after the "imported"....

I also find it interesting that I have posted enough files in the last 2 months equal to 10% of the posts from 5 years of Stratics before then. If I'd posted those 5 years at my current rate, I'd be well over 30k posts by now...

Edit: Wow - the merger of my two accounts I requested musta just kicked in as I typed it - I'm over 5k now....

Indeed I do. Not long after the Temp Forums were brought online for the first time, one of the first things I did was to input all the original data from the old forums in relation to the Titles a user gets by Post Count:

Those do sound eerily familiar like they should be in the list however, there is no real denominator for it in that listing (maybe 1750 - could go beyond 2000... 4000, 8000, 16000 *wobbles*). My document with that list is about 2 years or more older, if I recall correctly (around when Origin Shard went live - when I made it's original FAQ thread), so mayhap there was an update.

What's with the "Special*" at over 10k posts? I was over 11k and showed as "Stratics Legend" before the crash.

I think by Special, they mean Custom title? As in, you could choose your own title.

Special titles are granted after 10,000 and they are whatever the user requests. Users with over 10,000 posts can contact their friendly neighborhood admin for assistance with that or email [email protected] with their requested title.

Yes

Now, I don't mind doing that, but they don't say if that's something everyone should do or only those who have some differences between the old and new accounts. I'd just hate to inundate those guys with email unnecessarily, so is this something we all need to do or only those of us with new account names here or some other change from the old account information?

Just send them an email and give them the details. I sent one early this morning and had my account merged within about an hour, which was a lot faster than I'd expected with everything going on. Gotta give 'em props when they deserve it.

I just did that. After i wrote the mail i figured out my old password. I can login just fine. Ah well .. let the team merge the accounts and free up the old name.

Please read through this thread that I just merged your thread with. Brekkee has replied a few.

In short, any user that does not feel their current post count is correct should email as Brekkee requested. Any user that feels they haven't yet been merged with their old username, should email as Brekkee requested. If you cannot locate your old username in the list a user linked to, you should still email as Brekkee requested.

If you did not have an old username before the crash & merge, then there is no need to email.

If your post count is over the 10,000 mark (Special*) - just do as Brekkee requested also, contact any Forum Administrator or email as Brekkee requested and let us know what "Special" custom title you would like instead of "Stratics Legend." Custom Titles must adhere to the RoC.

A big thank you to the stratics folks who restored my old username....and they even capitalized the S in my username like i requested. Wasn't sure they would do that. I mistakingly never capped it all those years ago when i originally registered, and it always bugged me. They did all this too within MINUTES of receiving my email. Thanks a bunch

It is appearing just fine to me. Can you see other user's signatures and avatars?

Mayhaps you had turned off to view user's signatures with their posts? Best to check just to be safe, that option is in the User CP, under the Edit Options page, then bout 1/2 way down the page under the section Thread Display Options.

Private Message or email me if you still cannot see your own signature after double checking to see this option in your User CP.
