Greetings everyone!
I have been playing Siege Perilous for about a year now, and I can tell you, it is amazing. I feel like it is extremely close to what UO was supposed to be. After playing here and building a guild and getting to know the community somewhat, I have come to feel like production servers are nothing but watered down test centers, where everything is safe and there is absolutely no risk and nothing really matters. That is my opinion, I know some of you feel like paying 200 million for a slither makes perfect sense and love every minute of it. Everyone has their preferred play style and that is wonderful. To each their own. Here is what I do not understand:
I see a lot of threads here saying, "Hey, come to Siege you will love it!" and I believe that is true. I went there(rather skeptical I may add), loved it, and left Catskills pretty much for good, other than to say hello to my few remaining friends there. However, I am really trying to get behind the RoT skill gain system, and that seems to be the chief complaint about the server I hear from production players. It isn't that they don't like Siege, or don't want to come there, it is that after playing this game for 20 years, and slogging through the massive grind fest that UO already is, the idea of building a crafter or a tamer or a weapon skill at .2 per hour is not appealing. Add to the fact that you get one character, and therefore have to be pretty self-sufficient and will need to be able to provide for yourself is rather daunting when you realize how many soul-stones you will need and how much time you will have to invest into everything. It all comes down to time in the end.
Siege is a truly great and unique UO experience. From the feedback I get from a lot of players that I try to bring over, if making a character were more achievable in a timely sense, I really feel that we would have a larger population running around.
Thank you for reading this.
