Sampire (general) advice

Hey all,

Well, I made a sampire warrior and he is okay in some situations. I`ve attempted a paragon Balron and got it to 36%, but I am sure I could probably take it on with more experience. Just looking for general advice on improving. I am not quite sure what to do against a Lifestealer or Devourer of Souls (Renowned) which I assume are one and the same monster types, meaning life leech of any form is damaging. How do you deal with that? Change out skills to include Anatomy/Healing? I usually run with Resisting Spells instead of Anatomy. (Edit: Nevermind about the Devourer of Souls (Renowned).. I just fought it...)

Wasn't lucky with reforging. I got 100% HLL instead of HML.

I'm on the Sonoma Shard, so prices for PS are exorbitant. Which is why I don't have 120 skills. I started playing again about 2 months ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PS: I should also mention that as you can see I don't have many artifacts. Prices are through the roof and I'm just now in the process of trying to get the Blackthorn equivalent of Mace and Shield Reading Glasses (or should I go through the Britain Library for this and use the Minax Artifacts for something else). Still need several more Minax Artifacts.

I don't see Necro in your template? I assume you just forgot to list it.

Here is my sampire template:

120 Weapon skill (usually run mace fighting, but I have swords on a stone)
120 Bushido
120 Resist/Anatomy
120 Tactics
99 Necro
80 Chiv (+15 in jewelry for 95)
61 Parry (to reach the skill points for the lower mana cost specials)

Artis I use are Conj Robe, Conj Trinket (or mana phasing orb), Crimson, Tinker Legs, Mace & Shield glasses.

Based on where you look like you are on your template, I would recommend a demon slayer double axe and hitting the demon mini champ (sounds like you've been there) until you get a couple sets of tinker legs. Use the first one in your upgraded suit and sell the other for some spending gold. Its been a while since I played much on Sonoma, but if Fel despise is quiet during your play time that would be a good place to try for some powerscrolls. Even with your current suit and skills you should be able to manage a Baracoon with a little time. With the Blackthorn artis you should be able to get the robe, crimson, and glasses (get them as a metal helm). Would go for the mana orb in your next suit over the primer, but thats a personal choice... I think the 5 DI is much easier to get back than the HCI and LMC.

Hi, you should use a weapon with feint
I havent fought balrons in some time, but i do remember that they do those 60ish dammage hits (witch is kinda annoying)
A pair of daisho should work...When he does that 60 dammage thing, hit youre feint button...Keep counter attack up, and double strike away..
You should get youre swordmanship to 120.

@Merus: Yes I forgot to list it thanks. It's 100 atm.. I have killed the Devourer of Souls 6 times, so I think I have many more to come before I actually see my first Insane Tinker legs. I don't have the SSI to use a double axe either, at least to have it at 1.25s swing speed.

@kaio: Yes, I would like to get Swordsmanship to 120.. Unfortunately the current PS for that is at 8.5 mil... AI has sort of grown on me... Heh... However, having said that I do have a Fencing 120 PS as a backup. I may have to use that I guess.

Fencing is not bad at all, the main thing is that youre weapon skill should be 120.
Rolling with a leafblade is very nice too. You should consider switching
Making gold on a sampire is not that hard. Not sure how good or bad the economy is on youre home shard.
You could, farm sots doing spawns in t2a till they almost reach level 3. Then rush to the next one. 1 or 2 lucky sots, could fetch millions
And dont be a hero, if u get a nice sot, run straight to the bank.

With a proper sampire you can also go for medusa and if you are lucky grab yourself a slither

To collect some extra gold quickly, you can try hitting Navrey at Underworld dungeon.
Using the rocks and a spider slayer weapon, you should be able to kill her pretty easily, and you may see a tangle or a 3.0 SOT drop when you kill her.
Tangles tend to sell for a fair bit of millions.

@kaio: I am thinking of switching to Fencing, but I would really like to stay with Swords seeing as how I made all of those Bladed Staff and Radiant Scimitar. I did make an elemental slayer Leafblade when I was planning on hitting ore elementals with my crafter.. I'll probably have to make more.

A few Leafblades and Kamas for Whirlwind.

Thanks to Corwin's tip about having alts with some Blacksmith skill to get shield BoDs to make up for Copper runics (have several BoDs made up to Copper Runic from bribing) and PoFs I can try my luck again sometime soon.

@BeaIank: Yep, I've tried Navrey a few times with a Mystic friend and my archer (110 archery and the rest 100).

@Duncan: Yeah I read about those stone boots. I may have to buy them (200k) seeing as how I don't have fishing. I think I used to have fishing back when I was playing a lot, but lost it all when my houses fell. I should've put my soulstones in the bank, but I didn't think of it at the time.

@Corwin: I'm sure you will find them eventually when you're really not looking.
