[UO Herald] Update on Housing Decay

[UO News]

We have re-activated Housing Decay on Tuesday. If your account has been inactive for more than 90 days, you have 2 days left before your house is gone. After your have reactivated your account, it can take up to 24 hours for your house to be refreshed and display the correct status.

If you have reactivated your account and your house status hasn't updated after these 24 hour, please contact us.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it is at server up. The statement made was "up to" not "for," meaning if you updated your account at 6am, it wouldn't likely change until about 6am the next day. However, if you did it at 11pm, it would be several hours less. Still pretty sure the actual update process occurs during maintenance though.

About the server up thing... I dunno. How many servers does it take to keep track of my characters? There is a housing server an account age server and a game server.. Any other servers? Am I way off base here?

We have fixed the issue we were seeing with the houses not coming out of decay after the 24 hour period. If 24 hours have passed and your house does not come out of a condemed state please email me at [email protected]. If your house is already condemed and you re-activate your account after Saturday you will NOT be able to save your house.

Information I will need is the account name (no passwords) and the shard the house is on.

ok "after Saturday" clearly means Sunday

problem is I think some houses will have already fallen by then. 4 days is 96 hours. if you turned on decay Tuesday afternoon houses will fall between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, correct? in other words every house will drop between 96 and 120 hours?

also, any word on Return to Brit houses? why aren't they decaying?

Some might fall that early, I guess it's possible. But the server has been off for so long, and this has been warned for a month now, and daily updates here and on other fansites...If someone seriously loses a house because they were trying to play it right down to the minute, :loser:

And as repeated threads have discussed, RTB are still bugged, there are instructions on how to get them handled in the other threads.

Depends. Slightly stayed on the houses for 48 hours. Somewhat is still there beyond the 24 hour mark, IF it stays for 48 hours too, then that confuses me. I initially thought Sunday, but if each stage hangs for 48 hours instead of the old 24 hour cycle {except for IDOC of course} it would be Wed for the IDOC stage to actually hit. Which USED to be around 8 hours roughly, but what if that is double too? Either way I am chronfrused

Yepp, although they generally don't fall the first time around. They get "Owned by OSI" and become a nightmare. However, that is how it DID work. However, with the way the stages are going right now, I ain't giving definate answers on anything. Too much strange stuff for me to assume it's like it used to be.....

True. It was my experience when I was a "career vulture" Slightly was usually 48 hours and the rest of the stages were 24 hours, with IDOC being 8 range. On a RARE occasion one of the other stages could get stuck for 48 hours too. There have been a few changes since I last did these with regularity, such as random timers to house placement. For me having ALL the houses I have marked {around 50, I'm very picky lol} stay at Somewhat for longer than 24 hours is not just the rare occourence I mentioned. *shrugs* Could be ALOT of sitting around coming up.

Ugh... I watched a house on Siege once. It was owned by OSI. I met the original owners. I expect they were shady... That house recycled for years. There was a bulletin board that the "regular suspects" would write on occasionally.

I would check on it every now and then. One day it was just gone. It was loaded too... *sighs*

That was what I hated about the OSI owned ones in the past. Have witnessed them falling Somewhat Worn. Never should have happened like that, it opened the door TOO far for all the conspiracy theorists out there.

You can do that, or empty it out and say "I wish to resize my house" under the sign and replace the damn thing.

At one time a dev posted, and this is from memory, can't find the post, but a dev once posted that some of the timing depended on how many items were on that particular subserver that it had to scan as it made it's refresh passes.
And that that was the reason sometimes there were minor variations.
Didn't understand it then, don't understand it now. I'm no techie, I still get tickled when I can boot it up

There must be something wrong with the decay system. I have an account that has been inactive since July 9 and tower on it has not started showing signs of decay. No, it is not a bugged account because the tower has decayed on it before.

I would reactivate it to be safe but I haven't managed to sort out the account migration for it yet. And I can't even login on my normal accounts anymore it keeps saying my password is declined.

It is indeed old information. The point is that the "new" Mythic decay time may be referencing this cycle, not the 48 hour per stage that some people are accustomed to.

Though all I really hope to find other then maybe some Origin historical items and items of great value to cherish (NOT sell) I hope to find a LOT of crafting material...I really hate gathering resources lol

Though I must admit that the person/people that were at my house when it fell made out like bandits, it would be nice to maybe find some of my old soulstones or an item or two that I lost back then to replace it.

But mostly just resources...cus I'm lazy
