Nothing in them really appeals to me. The tile sets are incomplete. The distillery and chest of sending are superfluous. I have a house spot in a town (Skara Brae) so I don't need a bazaar vendor. I have no reason to buy it.
Didn't buy High Seas either; after the triumph of Stygian Abyss their releases have been pretty poor.

The only reason I'm boycotting these is because I told them..... they are Incomplete... I'm not paying that much money for something that is done half-a$$..... You want my money give me something that tells me you worked hard to put out a REAL expansion. Even if it's a Mini it should still feel like a FULL Set of tiles... and to me a full set of housing tiles is a complete set with walls, windows, DOORS, FLOORS, And at the very least a ROOF. Now I'd feel you went over the top if you included a foundation to boot but... it's painfully obvious to me that they REALLY don't care what the customer thinks....
I for one am sick and tired of them trying to do a Half-a$$ job and push that off on me.
So I told them... finish it... or forget it.
You can throw your money at them for it ...... but to me that just tells them "Go ahead... do a half-a$$ job... I'll buy it because it's good enough for me! Are the themepacks worth 1.5 months of game time in terms of added enjoyment? Not for me.

I seriously wonder why I bought SA except most of all the guild bought it and I wanted to play with them but I hardly go there now. I will not buy these 2 new expansions at this time.
I think SA was worth it. You look at what was in there, and even with the bugs and unfinished content, overall, I feel it was worth it.
The idea.... that both of these packs cost the same as SA to me is mind boggling.
I want to see Cal come here and justify the cost.

If they were cheaper, I might or if they had more to offer. The incomplete themes are a disappointment and since I don't rp or run a player tavern anymore, the distillery doesn't interest me as much. Have a shop already so Mag isn't my thing. $15 is too much for my to justify for stuff I probably will not use. The last booster (HS) I bought has been disappointing given the fact folks are still having some issues with it. /sad

Just so everyone who thinks the packs are overpriced will know:
Each theme pack (Rustic or Gothic) is $9.99 USD. If you buy them both (Grand Bazaar), then it is $14.99 USD.
It will probably make a difference to some if they know that each pack is $10 instead of $15.

It's not a matter of "not being able to afford," or "going hungry" if these packs were purchased. It's a matter of the content of the packs NOT being worth even half the price they are charging. High Seas sold for $14.99, the Grand Bazaar is the same price for a quarter of the content.
The pathetic amount of unfinished (house tiles) and useless (training dummy) content that goes along with the marginally interesting (distilling and raised beds) content simply isn't worth what they are charging.
Buying these packs will only encourage them (EA) to start nickel and diming us for everything. Monthly subs + micro transaction = corporate greed.

I have been paying for 4 active accts. since 98 for 2 of em and about 2000 for the second 2 accts. At any rate, I am paying em enough to continue to play 4 active accts. per month. Of the 4 accts. only 1 of my 4 is SA'd, and only 2 of my 4 accts. are High Sea'd.
Over the years I have bought EVERY expansion except that 3D one. And I normally enthusiastically bought every upgrade until SA for ALL 4 accts. over the yrs.

I do not see the value in these. If the mag vendors have some action then I might do so just to utilize these on one account and only one of the "upgrades" but as it stands there is no reason for this stuff to be split in half and at best its a "expansion" that should have been free. None of the content is "earth shattering" and probably will not see my $9.99.
Like I said in a earlier thread I believe this is just another grab by Cal, Messana(sp?) and what ever limited support team those two front people have at increasing a year end bonus. This said, if they manage to sell 5K of these packages I'd be shocked and that only adds up to $75K usd which hardly seems worth it to me.

Originally planned to buy both, one for each of my two accounts. But having a change of heart, I will instead just purchase the Grand Bazaar with one account and leave it at that.
Nothing against paying, it's really not that much money... I just don't have a use for another set of walls on both my houses. So put me down for liking these theme packs, just not in love with them.

if you buy these *cough* "packs", you are part of the problem. you are saying it's okay for UO to do a half-assed... a no-assed job because you'll happily open up your wallets and pay. if you purchase these packs, you are saying that it's okay for UO to charge 12 bux a month -and- for the content that should come with your subscription fee. what is the 12 bux a month for? the servers?
i know that calvin will never mention the price because, quite frankly, it is not possible to justify these exorbitant prices. in what world do a few (very) poorly drawn pieces of deco, a distillery (that does -nothing-!) and a garden for the lazy constitute as being worth 15 dollars? let me remind you that high seas also cost 15 dollars and it was brimming with content comparatively.
i'm sure we all want UO to last another 10 years+ and so we throw money at it like it was some diseased, filthy bum just so we can feel better about charitably giving. but the question we should be asking ourselves, as we buy yet another half-assed pack, is whether UO deserves to last another 10 years when this is the **** they give us.
and by the way, what is the deal with the new 'bazaars'? since when have we had to pay money (beyond our monthly subscription fee, of course) to be able to access content that affects the entire world? i don't recall having to pay 9.99 to purchase the new general chat pack.

Even if I was staying around, I wouldn't be buying anything here. After the HS fiasco and Other FAILS, I've lost confidence that the team can produce bug-free content - and not just for the in-game part, gotta include Buying it also. I am so done paying (or trying to) for stuff that doesn't work right. Plus, simply put, this add-on does nothing for me, and it's All about me

I'll reserve my judgement for whether UO deserves another 10 years until I see what they do with improving the EC and the graphics.
If they are serious about bringing in new players (which is what UO needs the most), then they have their chance to prove it to the world with their work on the EC and the graphics update.
I'm even willing to forgive/forget/ignore the theme packs because the theme packs feel like the pricing and content was set by corporate, especially the fact that they were split into two different packs.
The EC and graphics update work, that's where the rubber meets the road. I'd feel a lot better if Cal mentioned some new hires or that some artists were being loaned to the UO devs.
BioWare is huge, BioWare is behind the Ultima Forever campaign, if they aren't willing to get serious about the EC and the graphics update, then it would speak volumes about the support for UO.

The packs just look like a fail. Why offer something that doesn't have at least 80% support. What if u don't have or want to do custom housing, or garden, or make pointless brews, or need this bazaar. If your not gonna use everything in the pack, its even more of a bad purchase. My crafter is on one acct and possible custom house on another, I'm not gonna b uy for all my accts.
These packs baffle me. Its been awhile since we have had some new content and this is what I've waited for? Magincia was a total letdown. I've unloaded all 4 of my mag plots. The game is looking really bad.
The poll is leaning towards 33% overall acceptance. That's horrible.

I will probably buy at least one of each set but it's very disappointing that the house tile sets have no new floors, roof tiles or foundations.

Well they most probably got an intern to do the art in 2 or 3 days, so that was free, and the coding only took 2 or 3 days too. So it only cost them like $1K to make both boosters unless the intern did the coding too.
I guess the plan is everyone will switch over to Ultima4Ever online when it goes live.

I might buy them when/if they go on sale for $7 or so. MIGHT. I still haven't bought High Seas for my second account because there's no need. They're not putting anything in these that merits an immediate purchase, the price is ridiculous for what we're getting, and the content they're trying to sell us seems unfinished. If they want me to lay out full price for something they need to try harder.
At this point, I don't plan to buy either pack. I wouldn't mind having a couple of the items and to be able to make some of the craftables (not too sure about a couple of them). However, the cost is too high for what you get, especially considering the poor quality and unfinished state of the tile sets. I still only have High Seas on one account and that's because a friend gave me the code for it so I could go out hunting with the guild.
Even though I'm slightly interested in the encampment system to be able to sell pets on Siege, I just can't justify the cost, especially if so few people seem willing at this point to also buy one of the packs. In addition, my tamer on Siege is on a different account than my crafter (you're limited to one character per account on Siege) and there's just no way I'm paying for a minimum of three packs so that my crafter can make all the craftables and my tamer can use the encampment system. I really feel that the encampment system should have been made available to every account as part of a publish. As it is, I can't see it being much of a success at this point if everyone doesn't have access to it. Meh, maybe if everyone doesn't have access to it, the bidding for a spot won't get totally out of hand. Playing on a shard that only has half the potential spots that another shard has, I guess I'm more concerned than most that gold-poor players will be locked out of being able to use it as sellers. I also don't like the looks of the encampment system "stalls." It's disappointing that they couldn't have been done with a lot more class and visual appeal.
Even though I'm slightly interested in the encampment system to be able to sell pets on Siege, I just can't justify the cost, especially if so few people seem willing at this point to also buy one of the packs. In addition, my tamer on Siege is on a different account than my crafter (you're limited to one character per account on Siege) and there's just no way I'm paying for a minimum of three packs so that my crafter can make all the craftables and my tamer can use the encampment system. I really feel that the encampment system should have been made available to every account as part of a publish. As it is, I can't see it being much of a success at this point if everyone doesn't have access to it. Meh, maybe if everyone doesn't have access to it, the bidding for a spot won't get totally out of hand. Playing on a shard that only has half the potential spots that another shard has, I guess I'm more concerned than most that gold-poor players will be locked out of being able to use it as sellers. You do realize the prices are not decided by cal or mesanna, so don't pancake them out for the price, blame them for the content. I'm kind of mad that you have to buy a upgrade just to use Magincia. We fight to save it and then some Evil Corporation comes in and starts charging us to use it?
Cheap deco items.... a flower bed for farming seeds of renewal..... and a distillery to make like 5 types of brew (all of which do nothing but make you spout phrases)
If anything these items should have been thrown into the Summer Cleaning rewards.
