Bugs tend to crop up when on Origin, So id rather they had it for a week or so before it hits others.

I thought they were leaving that in? I must have mis-read that somewhere. What a shame.

On Origin, I've noticed so far that the change to eliminate recharging your spellbook is gone. Yay! Less frustration with trying to cast gate spell while escorting NPCs when your last attempt fizzled.

Also, Crag and Dan have vanished but seem to have left behind their (locked) chests.

Barrier island is still "all red" (except for healers and shepherds). However, I did find several thriving tent communities near the Minoc moongate. (Will check elsewhere soon.)

I also found a yellow NPC in New Haven named Elmer Fudd. His paperdoll says he is a town crier. He's hanging out with Walker and company. Might be unique to Origin, though.

Maybe they just forgot to list it. I notice the community collection and commodity deed changes are not listed either.

That's sure a good way for EA/M to get sued by Warner Bros. for copyright infringement unless they got prior approval to use the name.

Hmm. Got my Book of Bard Masteries for one of my bards on Origin. Below are the spell descriptions from the book. Don't know if these are different from what they were on TC1.

Provocation

INSPIRE - This is a battle hymn interwoven with magical energy. It increases the confidence and focus of party members giving them bonuses to their offensive combat prowess. Party hit chance increase by up to 15%, melee damage increased by up to 40%., Spell Damage increased by up to 15%. Upkeep cost: 8. Mana cost: 30. Min. skill: 90.

INVIGORATE - This is an invigorating tune interwoven with magical energy. It increases the alertness of party members and makes them feel empowered, giving them bonuses to their stats. Party hit points increased by up to 20, strength, intelligence and dexterity increased by up to 8. All party members healed for 7-16 damage every 4 seconds. Upkeep cost: 10. Mana cost: 30. Min. skill: 90.

Peacemaking

RESILIENCE - This is a song of fortitude interwoven with magical energy. It increases the natural resilience of party members giving them bonuses to regeneration and resistance to detrimental effects. Party hit point regeneration, stamina regeneration, and mana regeneration increased by up to 8, reduced duration on curses, bleed and mortal wound. Increased resistance to poison. Upkeep cost: 8. Mana cost: 30. Min. skill: 90.

PERSEVERANCE - This is a song of protection interwoven with magical energy. It envelopes party members in protective magical energy. Party defense chance increase by up to 16%, damage taken reduced by up to 16%, casting focus increased by up to 4%. Upkeep cost: 8. Mana cost: 30. Min. skill: 90.

Discordance

TRIBULATION - This is a bard spellsong which disrupts the target's ability to concentrate, reducing their hit chance and spell damage. The spell song also has the chance of causing any damage taken by the target to cause a burst of physical damage proportional to the damage taken. The amount of physical damage is proportional to the discord skill of the bard, and the chance for physical damage to take effect is proportional to the musicianship skill of the bard. Upkeep cost: 16. Mana cost: 30. Min. skill: 90.

DESPAIR - This is a bard spellsong which will reduce the target's strength and periodically inflict physical damage on the target, as long as the target remains in range, and the bard has enough mana to sustain the effect. The damage inflicted is proportional to the bard's Discord and Musicianship skills. Upkeep cost: 18. Mana cost: 30. Min. skill: 90.

I don't have a bard with discord on Origin. Just peacemaking. I left a message for Poo asking him to try it if he gets on. I'm pretty sure he has a disco tamer on Origin.

It will be a couple more hours before I can log on again. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll let you know how things go with the peacemaking abilities. I tried them just a little bit earlier but wasn't being hit by anything. All I noticed was the huge mana drain. I can confirm that normal direct and area peacemaking still seem to be working just fine.

Well, I did some experimenting on Origin with the Resilience peacemaking spell. Here are some of the things I noticed:

Things that DO stop the Resilience peacemaking spell:

The bard using the peacemaking skill.
The bard being smacked by a monster such as an ogre lord.
The bard casting the spell again (while it is still in effect).
The bard running out of mana.
The bard casting a magery, necro, chivalry, or mysticism spell. Couldn't test what happens if the bard casts a spellweaving spell.

Things that DO NOT stop the spell:

The bard (who has 0 discord skill but is human) attempting to use the discordance skill.
The bard being smacked with a black staff wielded by a spellweaving brigand.
The bard being hit by necro spells.
The bard being hit by a poison spell cast by a water elemental.
The bard being hit by an e-bolt or poison spell cast by another player.
The bard taking damage from another player's weapon.
Casting Holy Light in cross proximity to the bard while flagged to the bard didn't stop the spell. (It wasn't causing damage either, so I'm not sure what to do to test that chiv spells can interrupt the bard spells.)
Running across a server line.
Walking/running through a player-cast moongate.
Slapping a bandage on a pet to use vet skill.

It was difficult to test very much because even though the bard I was using was NOT partied with any other characters, she was losing mana very very quickly. Losing mana at that rate while partied, or even faster, will make it very impractical to use a spell for any decent length of time. The bard I was using is not in a really great suit and is still in training. She's a human with 104 intelligence and the suit has MR 8 on it. It seems that the mana regen from the spell probably does NOT benefit the bard. Musicianship is locked at 100 and Peacemaking is at 104.5 (real skills and not wearing any jewelry or other items to boost either skill).

I will try to do some testing later with my peace tamer that has 120 real peacemaking and 120 real musicianship, low med and almost nonexistent mana regen on her suit. Haha. Ought to be interesting. Will also see if I can get a guildmate or two to party with her and see if they notice any benefits from the spellcasting. While the peacemaking spells sound kinda cool to me, I just don't foresee using them often while partied and using my peace tamer because of what I suspect is going to be a huge mana cost. I can barely squeeze in 40-50 med on those characters and it's never been an issue other than when I'm helping do a peerless and need to keep my pet healed with magery spells from a distance. I've just never worried all that much about mana regen on those characters because they do almost all of their damage with the pets because the tamer has no evaluate intelligence. Using magery is generally reserved for getting around, rezzing, curing poisoning, healing, and invizzing.

Trying to meditate while a spell is in effect is pointless because as soon as it takes the next gulp of your mana to keep the spell in force, you stop meditating.

I have a feeling you need to have a pretty substantantial amount of mana regen on your suit to take advantage of these spells. Duh, I guess. LOL

Anyway, that's all I can tell you at the moment. Hope it helps. Let me know if you want me to test something else out and I'll do my best with what I've got on Origin.

Edited to add: Just for clarity wanted to add that Poo told me that you have to be hit for a certain amount of damage (30 points??) before the spell is interrupted. That would explain my results above and why they seemed inconsistent.

Okay now that we can post again, maybe, a few more notes:

Casting a chivalry spell interrupts a bard spell. I really misunderstood the notes on that one. LOL

Using the discord spells didn't make corpses disappear. We forgot to test this for the provoke spells because we wasted so much time finding rabbits for Poo to do the quest. I guess we need to find better rabbit hunting grounds.

Hmm.....what else. Oh yeah, even after bumping up MR on the suit, I doubt I'll use the peacemaking spells. Just ain't gonna happen with my peace tamers. The Resilience spell duration was way too short to notice any benefit from the mana, stam, or hit point regen for party members or pets. Curse duration did get cut (in half I think) if a party member was hit with a curse once the Resilience spell was already in effect. If already cursed when Resilience went into effect, the curse duration was not affected.

We didn't get to test durations of bleed or mortal wound or whether there was improved resistance to poison from the Resilience spell.

We also noticed that no icons showed up in anyone's buff bar for either of the Discord spells.

Poo can tell you what he thought of the usefulness of the discord spells.

Edited to add: Forgot to mention that applying bandages to a pet while Resilience spell was in effect did not stop the spell. Sorry these two posts are kind of discombobulated...has been a long night and obviously I didn't do enough homework reading old threads before diving into testing. Just reading the publish notes wasn't enough.

Pinco, other than the missing buff icons when you use the discord spells and the amazing use of mana that makes it difficult (for me anyway) to do much testing, what else is broken?

Did anyone else on Origin get to test the barding spells? I know Poo and I were not the only ones getting the bard spellbooks....

It looks like the changes Logrus was thinking about making were not included in the publish. I don't know if he decided against them or if there wasn't enough time to include them. Oh well. :(

Something else to report. Thought it was just a one-time thing last night but it's just happened a couple of times now on Origin. You cast recall, pick a location out of the book and ... nothing happens. You don't lock up, there's no message, nothing. You just stand there. Cast it again and you go where you wanted to go. Maybe it's just a quirk with Origin, but I'm mentioning it just in case it's tied to changes to the runebooks. In all cases my character was not in a busy location...I think every time, the character was "alone."

Dawns Music Box
Added a gump to allow players to arrange their songs in their music boxes
The drop rate of these gears
We have added new SA Music
Just found my next UO time-sink: Rearranging the music boxes and hunting up more gears. (You bring up the new gump via the box's context menu.) I hope they'll include the new songs I've been noticing the last couple of months.

how nice to finally be able to put 'Walking' at the top of my list! thanks Tina for the pic!!

now, about your casting troubles..... yesterday I noticed, along with the standing dead, that my character, when casting, gets into the first position and then never completes the animation for spell casting.... just kinda leans back, elbows bent, and gets stuck there.... I'll pay more attention today and make sure the spell does get cast every time this happens, but I think it does

anyone check the community collections to see if theyve changed on origin? I know on test for the last 2 publish' that community collections had changed. perhaps its still bein tested but you could turn in bags of items or tell the amount you wanted to donate. cant wait for these changes so i can start turnin in spellbooks faster hehe

Also about the recalling out of a book and not goin anywhere, ive had that happen every so often for as long as I can remember. might be the same lil annoyance.

I don't suppose they fixed how the invis potions and confusion blast potions get added together in the EC hotbars therefore not functioning properly.

If I can make these, I'll try and check this for you too (only 74.5 alchemy and haven't checked to see if that's enough or whether either needs a recipe). I take it that when you have both types in your backpack and have dragged a stack of each one to a hotbar, the totals are wrong? Can you post a screenshot?

Thanks for posting that; I've been checking my own boxes on Europa for that change, but I'd not thought to Context Click the boxes... I'll know for sure when the new gears are live then!

I'm hoping it won't be TOO much of a time sink though; I ground out 550 gears to fill just 2 boxes with common & uncommon previously, so that unfinished line which is still not corrected in the notes had better be "... has been increased"! And crossing my fingers Rares will now drop again, as will the two Dungeon gears that hardly ever do :(

Just a question. Do these new bard masteries use real skill or modified skill as well? If its modified skill then thats seems pretty stupid to call them masteries or whatever.

new masteries require 90 skill for cast the spell (music + other skill) and then 120 (both skills) for obtain the best results.
IMHO real or not doesnt matter because you will need +30 on 2 skill and then other + skills (when they put the LMC from bardic skills sum)

There's a complete list here;

http://www.uoguide.com/Dawn's_Music_Box

In my experience, "Ambrosia - Common" drops about twice as much as any other gear. In the 550 I collected, "Dungeon - Common" only dropped twice in total, and "Grizzle's Dungeon - Uncommon" only once. I got no Rares at all, despite killing somewhere between 300 - 400 Paragons (I kept the cocoa drops until I filled a chest with them all). "Wanderer - Rare" no longer drops at all, being part of a discontinued quest.

Not including a few I sold or gave away to others, my current sets of Gears are, from the total 40/12/4, as complete as follows;

40/12, 40/12 (sold this one), 40/11, 39/6, 39/4, 39/3, 39/3, 36/3, 33/0, 32/0, 27/0, 23/0, 19/0, 14/0, 13/0

As you can probably see from numbers, there's a certain amount of "streakiness", in particular, the 3 Uncommon gears, "Elf City", "Melisandes Lair", and "Good End Game (U9) are relatively more likely to drop than any other Uncommon. Whether that's a problem with the streaky UO random number generator or not, I don't know... but I bug reported everything I noticed as I thought I had a large enough sample size by now ;) Hopefully it'll be much easier to fill boxes soon... Also that they brought back the OLD Occlo music!
