WHO ARE THE TOP FIVE MAGES

I am newer to the shard and simple wondered who everyone thinks the top five mages are on the shard?? from my limited playing i would say T.K, FORSAKEN, KAGE, al, and sprago just wondered what the rest of you think

The mages on this shard at a respectable level of skill are:

Forsaken, Critical Gaming, Asty, Kage, Sunchicken, Speedy and me. (In no particular order...)

The rest of the mages on this shard are really more the field PvPer types... some have potential (such as Calibretto.) Others, such as Nym, Calypso?, Path. Tib, Sprago, Morgan and a bunch of others are good mages, but field mages rather than duelers...

I dunno if that helped, but that's a basic run down of the shards mages.

Player houses (most notably the TnT fight night house,) wrong roof or that arena outside of wrong.

The in your face fighting is at events, Luna, champ spawns or Guild vs Guild (random locations) Yew gate also sees some action... but rarely.

Solo artists generally get group ganked or ninja stealthed... we've been trying to get the Devs to help us change that though... not enough incentive to go out and just fight for the fun of it.

PvP on this shard is more about just killing you... rather than fighting for the fun of it.

It is not a hack, it is a crutch.

It is not something everyone has, so there is an unbalance, SA I think will level the field again.

When you can alternate between targeting self for heals and targeting last target for offense, without having to prep last target again, you are 2 or 3 seconds ahead of your enemy.

On 2D macros, without assist, once you target self to heal, you are last target. Now if you want to cast flamestrike, you have to retarget enemy again somehow, either by clicking on them, or by using "target nearest ______", or cycling through next target previous target.

If you didnt have the opportunity to pull their tag, you may have a very hard time clicking on them. UOA is a huge advantage that not everyone enjoys, kinda like faction gear.

I didn't use it from 97 until about 2007ish. Guild at the time told me to get it, or be booted. One actually bought it for me though, so it was cool. Although, I still do not use last target(Yes I still bar click, which means those who died to me suck even more than you thought) all I use UOA for is chugging and resource counting because I am very forgetful.

I agree with all those except Mono...that guy doesnt even rank in the top 20....Critical Gaming AKA Crunch should take that spot anyday of him or Meph people in that group or Fruitloops....those kind of guys....but not Mono....lol

Like I said, personal experience. I watched mono hang with SunChicken one night after SC had dropped me quicker than I'd prefer to admit and I also improved my own game considerably by training with him. I did forget about critical though; he and sakie made a very good mage duo.

UOA is pretty much utilized for 2 functions. Chugging pots and it's macros (for eating things like apples or using trapped boxes, etc.) Which is something hotbars and UO should have allowed you to do 10 years ago.

I'm going to go ahead and say anyone who thinks UOA is really a crutch, will suck just as much with or with-out it.

All I'm reading is excuses.

A red mage is the toughest char to play on Siege. There are two types of cowards...

I pretty much agree with most of that. I honestly love being red. I would rather be red on a Mage.

The only reason I do not play a red Mage full time is because most of the pvp here takes place in Luna. Luna it self is not really the problem it's all the blue naked tamers who run around putting there Greater Dragons on you.

A normal day of Luna.

-Kage is walking around looking for a fight

-you see Verum

-Kage ya I smell a gank

-you see Roy with a greater dragon non faction and naked. hmm not looking that good.

-You have been hit bye a bola!

-Verum is attacking you from stealth!
-Xeroth is attacking you from stealth!
-Roland is attacking you from stealth!
-A greater Dragon just bleed you and hit you for 70 points of damage with a fire breath.

Just from observing a couple of fight nights (duels) in the past, I would say Draxous is an extremely, extremely good mage.

I know most people (including me) don't like his attitude or maturity displayed on the boards, but he "actively" proves his skill.

Just my thoughts and he is not even a friend of mine, I just respect his skill displayed.

That is a challenge I gladly accept. I have been dueling with no real way to heal myself, because I couldn't chug pots on the run... once SA is released, I challenge you to a duel.... wheelchair vs. crutch!

ICQ/AIM still require typing, no real advantage there, except having friends lists that you couldn't otherwise have in game because of Guild/Alliance restricitons.

Player skill was replaced by UOA...deny it more?

Guild chat and party chat are included in the software, that is all I use. No ICQ, AIM, vent, Yahoo, MSN, etc...

One thing I learned about PvPing in GM armor against people in good gear was that I couldn't use my wearing GM armor as an excuse for my deaths. I chose my fate... as you've clearly chosen yours. I equivicate it to tying your legs together with shoe string before you run a marathon and pancakes about how you didn't get first place.

So go get the damn program already if it's **that** big of a deal to you.

I am not complaining or making excuses. I certainly am not crying about anything.

My initial post was a jab at UOA users in general, as there was talk of compiling a list of the top mages, I simply stated that maybe there should be an asterisk beside the names of people who use UOA. UOA is the equivalent of steriods in sports... I guess that explains the rage on the message board.

I use 2,000 gold spined suits bought at Molly Fydes™, unless she is sold out, then I have to buy pieces to make a suit or buy the 5k ninja suit.

I will still have to disagree completly with Mono being a good mage, hes only an opertunsit...if he feels his template is more dominant and your our of practice, then he will fight ya...once you have some ability behind ya...he will bow out....he in my opinion is one of the absolute worst on the shard.

this is a true example...we were at wrong arena, south kinda at that arena place...it was Sakey/ BR/ Sunchicken Kage/ Pusher (aka) Superstition and Elmer Fudd...there were some TnT guys there also cant quite remember...Super and Sun both did a two on two against Mono and other...Super and Sun were the only ones wearing GM gear and junk jewels, you could tell...everyone else had Good stuff/not faction....Mono would only duel Sun and Super.....Never Sakey, Never BR, Never Kage, Hell I was running a necro archer like I always have with Elmer, the Red Elmer and he wouldnt even duel me, we all had the same gear....his reply was....Im out of practice.....I have seen him do this type of crap hundreds of times, and we always laughed about it in vent, cause he was so predictable....my two cents about that shard coward....

Why stop there? I should get Vent too? Then I can have all sorts of advantages over my victims.

The reason I dont have UOA is because I see it as a crutch. It was not included in the game, so not everyone has the option. I could easily afford it, but the principal of it will not allow me. Now SA is being released with superior macroing, which will allow everyone to be on equal footing again. I will use it because it is included with the game, so I don't have an unfair advantage, as everyone has the option to use the macros.

If you're going to compile a list of the best mages ( or anything ), there should be an asterisk beside the UOA users names, thats all.

i really hope you have the ****tiest computer and internetconnection possible. wouldnt want to have an advantage over someone with worse hardware, wouldnt you.

I agree with keeping in game, in game. I dont think for a second anyone would challenge Monos char IRL, if so go stand the post or STFU.

That being said in the year or so I played with Mono he and Fudd displayed a true dislike for each other. it is actually kinda weird, One time I even asked Mono why he was res killing Fudd over and over and he said simply " I dont like that guy"

The funny thing is people who hate each other usually end up in the same guild and become great friends, happened to me a few times!!

Fudd, I just think given Mono's current station in life coward was a poor choice of words!

And for the record I think your hate is clouding your judgement as far as his mage skills go, he is solidly in the second tier or mages on the shard!

I pretty much agree with most of that. I honestly love being red. I would rather be red on a Mage.

The only reason I do not play a red Mage full time is because most of the pvp here takes place in Luna. Luna it self is not really the problem it's all the blue naked tamers who run around putting there Greater Dragons on you.

A normal day of Luna.

-Kage is walking around looking for a fight

-you see Verum

-Kage ya I smell a gank

-you see Roy with a greater dragon non faction and naked. hmm not looking that good.

-You have been hit bye a bola!

-Verum is attacking you from stealth!
-Xeroth is attacking you from stealth!
-Roland is attacking you from stealth!
-A greater Dragon just bleed you and hit you for 70 points of damage with a fire breath.

red > blue

by far 100x harder to play a red mage fulltime than a blue.
