As the Great Communicator said, "Trust, but verify."

How else can the American public "verify" except by using the valuable resources made available by such patriots such as those at Wikileaks?

Discuss.

Not everything "American" is American-owned. A great deal of things share the same ideals as classical American thinkers but don't come from here.

The fact that they publish classified documentation across the web does not make it an American Ideal...would you feel different if they published top secret documents about war strategy?...la

Nonsence. Your racist remarks have nothing to add to this conversation. Skin color is not a consideration.

It also has nothing to do with the topic.

Julian Assange has to defend his **** charges.

and don't forget Mahjongg!

honest dissemination of honestly gained information that is not detrimental to the national policies - fine. said leaked data was obtained DIShonestly then shot out into the internet-verse willy nilly regardless of what policies and stuff could be harmed. not to mention human lives that **might** get a tad mangled in the process or as a result.

Assange is charged with **** - making him an alleged criminal at the present. doesn't speak well for the head of Wikileaks ... and his company gets tarred with the same brush.

mmmmm not so much ... "applies in the rest of the world" << that is

As for the "question"

How else can the American public "verify" except by using the valuable resources made available by such patriots such as those at Wikileaks?
The "how else" is answered thusly: FOIA ... DOH!

"valuable resource" ... ??? ... "patriots" ... ???? patriots as in:
: one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests.
asausage is Aussie ... yes?

Oh! but he is allegedly a badman ... pfffft!
It is equally likely ... this was HIS plan b to "escape persecution" by the feckless USofA
feckless in that he was known to have "the data" back in march ...
no charges ... since march ...
hell
Can you say Roman Polanski?

*Yawn* at what point does "american ideal" INCLUDE >threatening< to release even more objectionable material?
 that right there is >extortion< in most of the civilized world ...
so ...
Are we "negotiating" with an info terrorist now?
In a nation of lawyers that can indict a ham sammich ...

we "fear him" too much to put pen to warrant?
:talktothehand:
"we" will sue a state, for taking >legal action<

but cannot manage ONE cease and desist order for a glory seeking GOSSIP ... ???

The :danceb: is unimpressed

There's more denied than freely given under FOIA.

Nice guess ... but /false

here ... :danceb:

not to mention ... the Question was phrased: "How else ..."
FOIA << is just ONE "else/how/way" ...

A bright lad, such as yourself *shocked smilie*, can imagine some other's :)

whether there is any >truth< in said documents ... entirely different matter ... :danceb:

Hey Fayled? Just because it's on a government website doesn't mean it works that way.

Well duuuuh ... :)

Judicial Watch | Fighting corruption & promoting transparency in government through public education and use of the Freedom of Information Act.

It is just a question of KNOWING how to make them comply with "their rules"

their/them being the bureaucratic drones(clerks) that you get at the window
or on the phone
or through e-mail
or are covering for their job's/bosses benefit ...

department of motor vehicle "employees"
were turned down at the post office ... too slow ...

or vice versa
*shrugs*

STILL "better" than bribing someone with access to steal the doc's ... neh?

Merry Christmas Fatboy:thumbsup: ... to you and yours for all of next year ... :danceb:

How about we not insult people, too, hmm?
NO insult ... its a "term of endearment"(note the following "holiday wishes" ... 20 quatloos that >he smiled<)
unless he reported it ... of course:thumbdown:
but then HE would just be trolling :eyes:

which >might< be the best xmas present of all ...

burma shave:thumbsup:

Term of endearment or not, without a context, there's no practical way to differentiate it from an insult.

I wouldn't be surprised if those charges don't stick. Conspiracy? Nah, but I really have lost the confidence in governments that bring charges up like this only after someone does something against said government...la
