As we are few in TDO, rarely more than max 2 online at the time, I'm total lost on this new stuff.

Any advice how to get started with it and is it possible to do any of it without a group?

Nah. Just like treasures of doom basically. Kill stuff in the dungeon, and they drop tagged equips. You can start a spawn that probably requires a few people to get it going that makes things move a lot faster, though.

I recommend the dessicated myridex or whatever they are called. 5 or 6 all spawn in the same area so you can keep going at a decent pace. Get 2-3 an hour or so.

I just run around in the room with the lava lizards and fire elementals and kill those. Use a fast bow and a Flame slayer talisman and I get about 10 drops per hour.

They drop in 2-3 shots so no need for a good suit. That makes it kind of PK cheap. :)
Use a Bag of Sending to send the drops to the bank.

Treasures of the Kotl City – Ultima Online

Treasures of the Kotl City

Posted on August 7, 2016 by Mariah

Wiki > Ultima Online Wiki > Combat > PvM Player versus Monster > Treasures of the Kotl City
The ruins of the Kotl City have been discovered in the Valley of Eodon. The entrance is located off the road between the Barako and Urali Tribe villages.
Creatures killed within the Kotl City have a chance of dropping “Artifacts of the Kotl”, these can be turned in to the trader at the entrance for a variety of rewards. The trader will also resurrect the fallen, should disaster strike you.

Inside the Kotl City

Entering the city at the point seen at the bottom of the above map, the first large room, and it’s western branch, are populated by lava lizards, fire elementals and desiccated myrmidex larvae. The eastern branch is blocked by a wall of tumbled rubble, behind which can be seen energy beings, Ignis Fatalis. Sometimes these are also encountered among the fire elementals and lava lizards.

Beyond this first room is the blue ‘city center’, furnished with scattered kotl sacrifical altars and occupied by lumbering Kotl Automatons. Other, more rewarding, occupants can be persuaded to appear, if you are able to discover their secret. To the west is a group of ruined buildings while to the east is a strange larger ruin. Beyond it to the east are more ruined buildings and a portal that returns the user to the entrance portal. The central room of the larger ruin is occupied by a large, broken table, the southern room, the Time Room, is sealed and contains something called the wheels of time.

Clicking on the door of this room gives the message *The door is sealed shut. There is likely a switch that controls it nearby*. Sure enough, to the north of the large room is another small room, but it contains not one switch but ten!

Solve the puzzle of these switches to unlock the room *You hear a low hum as the door to the Time Room unseals…*. Enter the Time Room and double click the wheel *You set the wheels of time in motion. The City shifts to a time long ago…*. The way is now clear past the rocks on the East side of the first room.

Beyond the Wall

Well, not entirely clear, there are barriers to negotiate, while dodging the Ignis Fatalis (EC version on the left, CC version on the right of the picture), and now the rocks are gone, it is clear how some of them come to be in the main room. Beware these have an area damage! You will also need eight kotl power cores, you might wish to collect these before proceeding further.

The tiles of the barriers are electrified, all except one. You must find that one in order to cross. It might be advisable to mark it in some way when you discover it – a small pile of coins perhaps? If you need to retreat, it would be well to know where the safe path is located. At the far end of this corridor is a teleporter to the inner sanctum.
The Inner Sanctum

From the portal steps lead to the main room. Here you will find quiescent power core docking stations, needing the kotl power cores you have doubtless carried with you. Although there are two boxes attached to each station, you need only place a power core in one of them. When all eight generators are activated a gate will open at the north side of the room and you will see the message *Kotl City Hologenerator: Great Battle simulation now active! Proceed to city center!*

Stepping through the gate returns you to the blue city center, but now you find it populated by Spectral Kotl Warriors and Spectral Myrmidex Warriors. They battle each other, making your task of defeating them somewhat easier.

Hidden Treasures

Clever detectives may manage to find a Regal Box among the ruined buildings containing treasures:
Gold, gems, a selection of volumes written by Ellie Rafkin, or Dr Spector, kotl power cores, cards of Semidarincluding some not previously seen, an Inoperative Automaton Head, and just occasionally an ‘artifact of the kotl’.

I got 2 drop so far, but they do not say artifacts. How many are needed to trade for something better?

I don't have the Eodon expansion, but can someone tell me if there are more items available for turn in than what's listed above? Seems like a bunch of junk...personal opinion of course.

I will keep that in mind when I get the 2 recipes I need for Tina.
It's a nice price, should be a good way for young players to make some money :)

Your opinion is actually a fact, but people here love their deco. If they put balanced and 15 DCI on the staff it would be pretty sweet.

The way to remove the wall is told in the page Lord Drakelord copied. Work the levers to open the door to stop the wheel of time. The hidden boxes are west of the blue city center, they are exactly like the hidden boxes in Exodus dungeon. Detect, unlock and spring or disarm the two traps.
As to the north room, that too is listed in the page above. What's there will depend on whether anyone has activated the battle.

The large room to the north and the buildings to the left have the chest..... Spent about an hour there and collected 200-250 of each gem as well as power coils, heads, journals and cards. A few pieces of the turn in crap but not enough to make the chest worthwhile for collecting them. You do need detect hidden to reveal the chest, Lock pick, I just took the hit from the poison and darts. The poison hits hard and dart trap in combo will drop you to half health fast. Sent around 90k gold to the bank from the chest. Then spent some time killing the fire els and lava lizerds about 2 hours and got 9 more turn in things + the 3 from the chest so roughly 3 hours total 12 kotl arties 200-250 each gem 90k 7 power coils, 6 heads, 4 sem cards and a bunch of journals. If I make it back I will probably add remove trap and avoid some of the poison anyway.

it says double click to set skill bonus. Does that work one time only? Or can you select other skills after the first time you did so?

I assume it will be like the ring from Doom event, one time only.

@FrejaSP to answer your question, do you need a group. My Marie Nayted character has:
1. collected kotl cores from hidden boxes
2. worked the levers to unlock the door and stopped the time wheel
3. navigated the corridor to the teleporter leading to the inner room
4. put the collected kotl cores in the containers
5. fought the battle creatures alone.
However. She's a poor warrior, having only 65 real magery skill, so no mastery. She only got 2 drops from the whole spawn and took quite a long time to clear the city even after the creatures stopped spawning.

P.S. She also got complete sets of both series of books, you can see them locked down in the garden of Molly's Emporium at Zento dock.

Thanks all for the ansvars, I guess I was just a little slow to get started on this new stuff :)
Also I believe the thread may be useful for others too and was a nice way to get some peaceful posting on the forum as it was almost frozen :)
