The Lady Amandine had sat silently for hours upon hours staring at the melted Helmet that her Knights had found within the Underworld. Knowing that the old Order had many secrets, and Lord Simeon had been able to pass so few on to her before his death worried her. Something about this helmet seemed unnatural to her, something stirred in her like a shadow twisting around her backbone. Whatever evil this was she wanted it destroyed.
The King had been no help, he simply passed it off as superstition and illogical feeling. The mages guild simply shrugged at her and shook their heads. Even the blacksmiths had seemed to think that the metal helmet had been poured over a human mold and not forged, several of the smiths refused to even touch the helmet, saying it felt like bad luck.
Knowing of no other means she called out to the father of her child, yet he did not come. The man in white came at his own bequest, and was not to be summoned.
Little Charlotte began to cry, time for another feeding. With the baby at her breast Lady Amandine walked the cobblestones of her room deep in thought. Even Sheon couldn’t be found for guidance. She felt abandoned, all her friends and confidants had seemed to have left her, Sheon, Cranus, Addie, Simeon, and even her beloved Adamu. None could, or would offer her help in this. She was alone, and her knights awaited direction.
So little to go on. So little knowledge survived, the Lady knew only that the owner of this perverse piece of armor must be found. Found and destroyed.
Little Charlotte tugged away, and was wrapped up and put back to bed. Lady Amandine shut the light and quickly fell asleep as well.
The helmet however, started to glow red.
