Ok it has been forever and a day since I took a tamer past 105 real and went to the savage camp in Ilshenar. Have they changed how tribal paint and pets work?

Back in the day, 2002ish anyways, as long as you weren't guilded and did not tell your fresh tamed ridgeback to attack, then your paint would not explode when the savages kill them. Now I am finding that the paint seems to randomly explode when the saveages attack a fresh tame. I have even released them and had it explode so I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if it has been changed.

Anyone tame this way anymore? I would hate to spend 105.9-120 taming bulls.

I think if the ridgeback fights back and happens to actually damage a savage, it burns the paint. A quick "all follow me" after the tame should be enough to keep them from fighting back.
