A simple three letter word. But a word laced with images that few could utter with a gleeful smile. A smile now that couldn't be wiped from his face.
SK leaned to his right slowly before getting up. As his fingers gripped the chair for support that he had been reclining on, he stared at his own digits. Gnarled with abuse, blackened by the violence that he had come to know as life itself.
He sighed and grunted as he turned to face his work.
War could not have come at a better time. His comrades, if they could be called that, had been getting lazy, the spoils of their combined efforts making for what would be a relatively warm and easy winter. Most had already retired for the season, satisfied with themselves.
This complacency would be their undoing, much as it had been in the past.
War was what they needed to rekindle their passion.
SK studied the well marked map attached to the wall. A side could be joined, of course, but this had never been SK's preferred method of interaction. A supplying of weapons and men to both sides would not only push the conflict closer but would give an excellent chance to reap the most rewards at an opportune time.
