Some noob questions about unravelling and imbue please.

I did the following:
1. Use skill "Imbue"
2. Click menu "unravel item"
3. Target an item
4. I get magic residue

What does that mean? Is the item wasted?
Is that the steps that we do to gain skill in Imbue?

I read several articles but I guess it's very different when you try it. lol

My current understanding is this:
1. Unravel: takes stats from Item A
2. Imbue: transfer the stats from Item A to Item B

Right?

The items is gone and you took a ingredient from it. That ingredients can be again be used to add things to weapons/armor.


Unravling will get you gains till 25. You can buy the first 40 skill from the NPC artificier. To gain imbuing you need to make items and imbue them.
