For those new to the community, Guild Wars: Sea of Sorrows by Ree Soesbee, is the final book in a trilogy of stories that sets the stage for Guild Wars 2. Original intentions were to have all three books out before launch, essentially bridging the lore gap between the original Guild Wars game and Guild Wars 2, while providing fans with something to drool over while the game continues development. The book however has seen several delays over the past year, and once again seems to be postponed by the publisher. As mentioned in our Guild Wars 2 Lore Interview with Ree Soesbee, she’s been hard at work over the last several months editing, writing drafts, and bouncing ideas off writing team; all on a very compressed and unforgiving time schedule.
Earlier today I received an email from a bookstore in Belgium who noticed a change in release date from the previously mentioned August 28th, to a winter release of December 30th, 2012. This is in fact for the English version of the book, not a translation, and the bookstore is also awaiting confirmation from the publisher about the change in date. As sad news as it may be, this estimate is a little ahead of the recent changes by online retailers, as Amazon US and UK both have the release date now listed as February 2013.
