Population?

Evening,

Recently comming back to UO after 3 1/2 years of changes in life, I have noticed the population seems to be reduced. Has several left UO? If so, is it still impossible to place a small home once I have gold saved for one? I appreciate your time in answering my questions, the ones in this post and in my previous posts.

There are still open spots to place and in fact I know a spot where a small stone tower fits. Not sure if that is what it was called, but it fits :)
