Event: Royal Pick Axe Challenge!
When: 9:00PM EST July 16th
Where: Minoc Fel Mint -- Will walk to area
Cost: FREE - Even the ingots and cloth will be supplied on arrival​

Are you a crafter and have some built up anger inside? The work we do is very stressful meeting quotas turning out weapons and armor, all for the general public to not even recognize the hard work you do to protect Sosaria. Well, good news! The Governor of Minoc is hosting an event where you can release some of that built up anger, all while showing off your crafting and strength!

There will be two parts of this event. First, will be the 1 on 1 combat challenge. Winners progress until a true winner is declared. Normal bracket type advancement. Secondly, will be a royal rumble. All participants will be in a circle, the last man or woman standing will be rewarded greatly!

Since the host of this event is from the mining city of Minoc, some rules have been placed on this Pick Axe Challenge, to try and keep things fair, fun, rewarding, and most importantly entertaining!

Since most simple miners are working with bare minimum armor to keep cool, no armor is allowed. Participants will be allowed to wear decorative cloths that do not have any resistances on them. No robes will be allowed, as it could obstruct the view of pieces. No ring or brace either.

The character must be a crafter, you must craft what you wear. Including the pick axe.

Since miners in the caves are often getting cuts and scrapes, the use of bandages is common among the cave teams. Therefore, I've allowed bandages to be used in the event.

Potions will NOT be allowed. As a simple miner would not know the ways of a highly skilled alchemist.

You can set your skills and stats however you want to -- you must be able to craft both the tool and at least some cloth armor.

The Rules Simplified:

Participant must come naked. Participants will be given ingots and cloth to make their pick axes and decorative war cloths.

Allowed:
Bandages are Allowed - 15 Bandage limit. May restock for rumble. This is to prevent never ending battles.
Hiding and Stealth can be used - a timer is going to be set on 1 minute, so you cannot hide indefinitely.
Spells NO SUMMONS - Allowed 30 of each reg

Not Allowed:
No Armor w/ Resistances or Stats - Cloth pieces for looks IS allowed.
No Potions
No Petals
No Pets
No Smoke bombs
No Summons



Times, Przes, and rules might change before competition as this is a running idea, and things may evolve! Please check back regularly! Also, if you are willing to participate please reply here, PM me, ICQ me, or contact me in game. So I have a clue on how many people would like to attend.


Non RP Note: This is going to be a combat event. It will most likely be in Fel. That is why I'm trying to make it so the possible loss to any participant is absolutely zero. I will be supplying everything needed in the event. From the ingots and cloth, down to the winners checks.

Keep in mind, many skill combinations can be used in this event, I hope you all think out of the box and figure out how to make the best warrior, while keeping your crafting abilities on your character.

Having heard the call from the governor of Minoc, Lady Gen decided to take some time off from mining the ore of the planet and practice the combat skills that she had long forgotten.

First, having spent her last years walking and leading her pack horse, Lady Gen tried to teach the pack horse to carry a rider... but the pack horse would have nothing of it. So Lady Gen took her work buddy to the first rate stable at Luna and asked for a sturdy and rugged warhorse to assist her in her training. Almost 600gp later, she mounted a horse for the first time in many many years. After getting used to the throws of horseback riding, Lady Gen proceeded to a warrior's keep far to the NW by the ice dungeon. There, Lady Gia, the murderous KelsonII, and Lady Selene outfitted her with equipment appropriate to swords training. KelsonII gave her a pickaxe of war to get her accustomed to the feel of a pickaxe being used for purposes other than mining. Then Mrs Nogo flew in with a suprise. Late last night, Mrs Nogo was awarded a Legendary Butcher's Knife after defeating the evil minion Exodus. Lady Gen was pleased with the butcher's knife as it not only can leech energy and mana from her opponents, it also has the magical ability to heal her as she fights. Excitedly, Lady Gen thanked the warriors and proceeded to a moongate to find some fights.

After getting herself accustomed to combat again by fighting some ettins near the shrine of honesty, Lady Gen made her way to her home town of Minoc to rid the surrounding areas of monsters. However, the lack of any significant threat made this mission very ineffective at increasing her combat skills. As the miner-turned-warrior was searching Minoc for evil doers, the trade minister stopped her and asked her for help escorting some trade missions. Lady Gen had found her calling. She jumped at the opportunity and grabbed the first available mission; it was to Skara Brae. And what do you know.... the first mission was fraught with peril as Lady Gen was cruelly ambushed not far south of the Minoc Gypsy camp.



However, after recovering from the initial suprise of the attack, Lady Gen weilded her pickaxe skillfully and killed the attacking gargoyle and two trolls. Her skills with a bandage were already increasing and she was causing more damage to her opponents with each hit. Her fighting was improving!

In the end, the trade mission was successful and Lady Gen was rewarded for her efforts.

When you see Lady Gen you will know that she might have taken a break from mining, but she is still actively invoved in her beloved town of Minoc. She will continue escorting the trade missions that are so important for the economy and quality of life in Minoc.

Running events on Chessy is a little different maybe. I know from past events that I have run, I have usually heard very little in response but when it came time for the event, I had a nice turn out. I would give it some time and see what happens or maybe add a poll to see who may be interested. Your info posted is very detailed so few may have questions.

Had a request to allow magery into it, as a lot of new aged crafters are using magery to help travel the lands in search of goods. I've decided to allow magery w/ a 30 of each reg limit. These regs will be supplied at the event.
I'd still like to see people using pick axes, but that will get difficult w/ mages.

Just make them use spell channeling pick axe. Pick axe could be imbued with spell channeling only.

Yes it will. You can imbue FC1 first and then spell channel so there is no -1

Any mage crafter will have to imbue their own weapon. That'd be difficult and confusing to do on the spot.

is mage weapon allowed on the pickaxe? or only SC and erasing the -1 FC?

The negative does not matter. But no ring and brace can be used. So if it has the -20 mage wep on it, you'll be at a max of 100 magery.

Got off to a rough start. was raided by UHOH and we promptly thought of the box, secured a house, and gated to a secret location from inside the house. UHOH has been barred from any of my future events, if it relates to fel.

We had 4 participants this evening, I was expecting 8-12.
Standings:
1st - Gen of Minoc (5m winner)
2nd - Restraining Order (2m winner)
3rd - Olga (1m winner)
4th - Dragon's Watch (500k participation award)

Royal Rumble aka Free-for-all was great to watch! Would have been a blast w/ more participants!
The winner of that was Gen as well. For 10 more millions!

Me and the participants found it very rude, and disruptive to have your guild mates killing event organizers, participants, and event goers.
Sometimes decisions have to be made to remove the vile from the events. And that is what I did.

Nothing to do with me, but as I said before, you want to exclude me that is fine. I will now DIRECT my guild to bother your events. So I hope you are pleased with your decision making.

You also had people CHEATING in your event, which I pointed out, but you ignored me with that too.



So future event goers, his events WITH BE BOTHERED BY UHOH due to unfair exclusion, and he has guildmates KNOWING cheating in his events and does nothing about it. Just throwing it out there.

As for what I did, and no one else did, you removed yourself from vvv as the event started. You ,the only organizer, were untouched, I never killed your participants. As the event goers, there was no one there to watch, as everyone was in your guild that had open access to the event when you gated, barring my guild members from watching, who didn't even get involved from it. As for the vile, it's just me. Next time, don't have a fel PvP event if you can't manage to defend from 1 attacker, in which you used to be a zerging guild. Hot pockets!

As for cheating, all bags were snooped once we arrived at our location. Besides regs and bandaids, there was nothing out of line w/ the rules. One player did still have a bracelet in the backpack but I watched as the fights occured to make sure it was never equiped.

Its always a chance to have PvPers hit a fel based event. Hence I requested the participants to not have anything of value. I just didn't think you'd all stoop to killing nakeds, and res killing. lol.

Lox, unfortunately for all, no one was able to watch the event except for the participants. I think everyone is getting a little butt hurt about all this. First, it's a fel event and you have to expect "intervention." Cotton was just plain dumb to be in VvV as the event organizer. Sorry bro, but it's true. As he was trying to set up the event and brief people etc etc, he was getting bombarded by necro and white lightning. Some of the participants were very upset by this.... but in reality all should have expected such actions.

All of this happened before you arrived. After much silly running around (and naked crafters ogling each others' bodies) Cotton was able to quit VvV and no longer be orange to your guildies. At that point, he decided that Uhoh was going to intervene in any way possible (necro was actively & vocally trying to get Minoc to be the VvV town). In response to such actions, Cotton made the tournament private. Because of the shenanigans, the amount of dead time/waiting/etc had already reached a zenith and the even just needed to get going.

No one from toke was there (minus Cotton and participants) either. We shut of cart and let it be private.

As for the cheating thing.... you could possibly be right, but, unfortunately, Cotton was having a hard time running the event as some members of your guild were making it as hard as they could for him.

So, in summary, fel event harassment is fair. However, you shouldn't get way butthurt that Cotton shut your guild out (all guilds in fact) after being harassed even after many polite requests to cease and desist. He had to get the event to happen and you must admit that if you were there, your guild would have come and even if you personally weren't going to interrupt the event, I can only imagine what would have happened as the crafters turned grey as they fought.

lol, UHOH is really upset they didn't get to grief longer than they did. I'm done w/ this thread. Protest all you want, everything went fine, I don't believe any cheating occurred. Just cause he didn't have a gm made tool isn't enough for me. It was entertaining watching the fights, was worth my golden coins to make it happen.

My last words: I cannot have a guild who is swearing to kill everyone as they go gray be part of a fel event where participants are having to go gray. Sorry Arthur and Necro ruined it for you. You should be deeply upset by the immature actions of your guildies.
