Petition to Luna Home Owners

Please try to make your homes match the city. There are several buildings that have made this move already and they look great. The city looks less bad every time someone makes their home match.

Lets start a movement to get luna homes matching the city.

It's a pettition. We're not forcing you. Though I'm sure many folks around the shard, in UO in general would enjoy a luna city in which things have a certain matching quality.

Think: Legends could have the only not ugly luna in all of UO.

I don't own a Luna house, but I can see complications with this IF they all looked the same (same wall tiles). Right now, someone could give you directions to their Luna house saying "North wall, log walls" (not saying one exists). Easier to find than "North wall, third from the left."

If people own Luna houses, the dont own them to make them look pretty(mostly). You dont need a overpriced house in luna to if your all about deco.. people own them because its prime location and the best vendors spots in the game. Its also a status thing.. only a few people can have luna houses and they are expensive.. I am not all about looks and houses and deco and stuff, but if I owned a Luna house it would be my goal for my house NOT to look cookie cutter...

You mean the curent state of being the best shard in UO. Legends is less crowded then other shards and has a well established community. legends also has two great EMs providing content and context. One of the huge drawing points of Uo is the fact you can have a home and design and decorate to your taste. To force a style of house on Luna owners would erode the rights of the individual; and when that happens facism follows under the guise of socialism!

Actually after making another pass thru Luna, Luna on Legends doesn't look bad. Some of the other shards tho :shudders:
We are definitely in the top shards as far as appearance goes.

It's sad that people won't take voluntary measures to make the shard look better and be more appealing as a whole. I think much of it stems from a lack of imagination when building homes or from some deep rooted need to try and grief those around them.

Needless to say, Just take a look at some of the nice sandstone designs that are around, there are some great ones out there to give you ideas and you don't have to lose all originality.

Nobody is forcing you. we're petitioning that out of your desire to make legends better, you will voluntarily do it yourself.

on another note; Omnius, it seems like all you do is complain, and I can pretty much say it does no good to. All you're gonna get is angry reply's and you yourself will get angry, I say just end it here and turn over a new leaf, start talking about what's fun about Legends, maybe even bring some new joy to the shard.

I've not complained. I'm suggesting a voluntary and positive change that would bring attention to legends among cross sharding trammel folks and merchants.

If it is not successful then I will continue to make positive suggestions. I've come up with several ways to improve the thread but I will not lie to others as to the state of things on any shard. I call it like I see it.

I understand the desire to tell others that things are better than they are to make others come but such an attitude will only let folks down when they look at this shards actual state compared to what is advertised.

The solution? Make things better.

Guilds like L*D and ^X^ should open up pvp supply shops in yew instead of house hiding homes. Home owners in the most public places should beautify their homes. Luna home owners should try to maximize their vendor spaces and dismiss vendors that don't appear to restock for some time.

It's simple things like this that make a shard more attractive to people xsharding or returning to UO.

might be nice if people tried to take their wealth and work towards the bettering of the shard. They might just realize they are part of the shards they play and bettering their shard is an investment in themselves.

EDIT: Vendors who don't update for weeks ought to be dismissed. Just because they give you rent, doesn't mean they are good. many of these empty unused and in some cases ancient vendors make legends look awful in high profile areas.

Legends is already a great shard, if you think it needs "improvement" than you're looking in the wrong places, you have PRAH, TMC, and many other guilds/alliances who are great people and enjoy the shard the way it is. Maybe you should go join them so you can learn to appreciate how fortunate you are to have a good place like this to play.

WOW! All this over Luna houses. I agree that pretty houses in Luna would be nice, however everyone's idea of pretty is different. If it were up to my husband all of our houses would look like torture chambers and hang-out's for the undead. Also the people that have spent MILLIONS of gold or hundreds of rl dollars have bought the house that they have to use for vendors. Some spots this is harder to do and make them look nice. I have shopped all over in the Jap shards and gazed at the wild wonders (crap new song stuck in my head) of their house building abilities and the decorations done in the vendor bags. However they also have an incentive to do this. They have contests and the winner of the month (or however long it is) gets a special flag on their house. This is not just kept to luna though, it can be any vendor. As much as I like a cohesive look to an area I also like individuality. I would much rather have my independance to make what I want and like then made to feel I had to do what someone else thought was right. I'm sure all of my TMC mates would love me to have made my Zento house's to have that oriental flare but insted I have chose to make a school that resembles a castle from a favorite book of mine and a house that is bright and pretty (ok so I am still working on both!) but I do not think that either of my houses detract from the beauty of Zento. Vendors on the other hand I seriously agree with you on. Its not hard to keep a vendor stocked in some sort of way. If you are going to be gone for awhile then perhaps taking your vendor down or putting a tag on it saying on vacation will be back ... would make it a little better. I hate seeing vendors that are always empty but seem to have been standing that way for over a year! What is the point?? I will not tread into the area of telling someone what they have to do in their own house but it would be very nice to see nicely filled vendors.

nothing about trammel hunting or modern uo roleplay is going to convince me that luna on this shard looks good. This is a luna with potential. Not one which requires no further work. about a third of the homes in luna look great and match in some way. Others look horrible by any standard. one house is actually a scripter house! As for appreciating a good place to play... I play several shards. I appreciate each shard for what it does best. Right now Legends is the shard with the most untapped potential.

Marble homes look bad in luna. Lob cabins look silly. Sandstone, stucco and even some plaster homes look good.

Legends Luna's best looking homes are currently:
The Nimble Thimble by Elly Goldheart -Matches
Nor Manor by Avinistan of Nor -Could easily be modded to match
Babil by Claretta Petacci - no where near matching but its an interesting look
Virtual Hustla World Headquarters by Genghis - matches but could use a few minor changes to look like an awesome shopping mall
Whispering Rose Radio House by Nabin - matches and best event house on legends as I can tell
Luna Library (TMC) by Damia - matches great looking library that doesnt sacrafice looks for anything
MISSION by Cochu - matches and probably one of the best homes on the shard

My pub and rune library were more then 5 minutes I can tell you that. Clearly your entire goal is to devide the legends community by createing drama on the boards, given your lack of PvP skills it is not a surprise you take to the boards to create drama about house design. Those who can PvP do, those who can't come to the legends forum and try to stir up drama with petitions about Luna houses!

Myself, my guild and my alliance consists of the best pvpers on legends, bar none. I'll guarentee there is no guild on legends that can beat us in a 2v2 duel.


Just ask vyal. He's so bad he had to get in protection, chug pots, use bushido and demand full necro duel then complained that he got strangled despite the fact that he chose to play that way. He called in friends then to gank but they gated in our mutual enemy with them and got killed.

By end of the evening there was vyal who ran away after claiming to have killed paithan of VIP when he was on atl.

A bunch of dead minax and me who never died during the entire affair despite killing multiple people. a couple of them while in a separated 2vme.

Of course, what would a trammel newb know of pvp right? You probably listen to what the house hiders in ^X^ tell you. Here is a heads up. people won't even raid my guild while we spawn because they are too afraid of leaving their houses. We don't hide our spawns. we go to yew gate and tell everyone to try and raid us. We don't speed kill baracoon, we wait until someone shows up or until it's clear nobody in coming.

What guild on this puny shard is better than us? Who can claim that even numbers they could win 3 out of 5 fights?

I'm not dividing anything. I'm telling everyone in straight forward talk, that some houses look like they had no thought given to them. They match nothing, they aren't color coded. They benefit the shard in no way at all.

Other folks are so greedy for gold or so inactive that they let vendor that haven't updated in weeks in most cases, months in many cases and years in other cases stand making legends look like a junkyard.

As for folks like you, Legends is not an expensive shard, there are just a lot of extremely out of date vendors taking away from the few up to date ones.

duels of this nature aren't very uncommon. 100mill is just enough to hurt someones armor money but not enough to be a bank roll killer.

I've watched a few pure mage duels for 100mill on atl this month alone.

P*** off some luna home owners and perhaps instead of making there houses more like you want them, they will turn them into attrocitys of missmatched tiles just to be spiteful.
I dont see many luna home owners conforming there house designs and activitys to suit others wants.
Id like to extend this petition in fact to the members of my real life neighborhood, Id like to see many of them clean up there property more.

I agree alot of the houses have little effort put into them, but the owner most likely paid a good deal of money to do whatever they like with there property.

Makato sounds like a good place to me! Already has some vendors, and most of the houses conform to the local style already. All the extra traffic might get annoying though...I've personally had to escort three people to the moongate after they followed a rune to my shop and found themselves in unfamiliar surroundings.

We all have ideas of what makes a home beautiful or just down right hideous. We could argue all day between ourselves and it won't change the outcome by the end of the day. Would themed homes look great, yes. Take a walk around Zento and you will see that most of the homes owned by TMC do. But do remember that we were not asked or petitioned to make that decision. You must keep in your thoughts, that the house owners in Luna do not all belong to one guild or alliance. There are some who will probably always clash and not get along with each other. Petitioning them to all conform could cause even greater issues. There are a few homes that I think are distasteful throught Legends, but I hold my oppinions to myself and don't share them with everyone. It is called being respectful of the others. They pay to play this game just as I do and are entitiled to make their own choices.

I'm of the age that was called non-comformists
And I'm from Texas, with the typical KMA attitude towards anyone telling me what to do with my property.

All the houses I own, I will build and deco however I want to (hush Dev).
It's my right...
and petitions, board flames, suggestions, threats, boycotts, none of that will change my mind.

The suggestion was made, and the suggestion has/had some merit. However, individual owners with individual tastes will never come together and do this as individuals.
If there were, say, an alliance made something along the lines of "Home Owners Association of Luna", with some loose guidelines and bylaws for membership, then that might be a step forward. And to make membership and abidance attractive enough for it to make a difference, there would have to be some benefit also, such as the association taking turns promoting their establishments as a whole, instead of as a single shop. But I digress...

A home owners accosiation of luna is a great idea , the owners putting time and effort into providing the best of vendor quality, If the right insentives were given.

I do not even know who you are, but when Luna was new, whoever was able to secure a house there went on to create a house of their choice and with the goal of being different.

There was a huge chapel design that was outstanding, and between planning and creating must have taken a huge amount of time.

You want to live in Levittown then go make a player made city and go all out in your choice of design or lack thereof.

This has to be the silliest thing i have ever heard discussed here. lol.

Besides, royalty does not live in sandstone.
